That would be a complete disaster.

Edit: By allowing people to craft blessed faction armor on Siege you are essentially adding insurance to the shard.

People play Siege because they don't want insurance.

We have runic kits out the wazoo. People will be using their silver to make uber blessed suits that they can't ever lose.

Might actually encourage people to fight over factions though, pretty much no incentive to care about faction towns as it is plus might make me fill some tailor bods :)

People didn't fight over factions before. They simply joined whatever faction controlled the towns to get the blessed armor.

It will be just like that now, but worse since the waiting period has been reduced to 3 days and there is no load balancing.

It is an idea which contradicts the entire reason for the shard.

Bad, bad, bad idea.

Well hopefully they fix the issue on Siege, but I like the idea for reg shards.

I could never care about yours or anyones loot just the killing them is enough, i doubt i have looted anyone in years for any other reason than to just trash whatever they were carrying :)

Then go and play a shard with insurance.

Insurance doesn't belong on Siege.

The way it works is at first you stand on principle. As in, I'm not going to wear this blessed sammy helm or these blessed sammy leggings because they shouldn't be blessed on Siege.

Then, someone puts them on and you are at a disadvantage. Having a full suit of runic blessed armor and a Siege blessed weapon or jewel is a tremendous advantage over someone who stands on principle.

That is why. I know you were just trolling, but that is why.

Most people play siege because it's the easiest server to gain an advantage over the average player by actually being better and knowing more about the game :)

I respectfully request that we get a Siege test shard for a day or two. Just give us skills and no arties and such.

*chuckles* Probably quiet a surprise. I would still like a Siege test for a bit. Not many shards are hard core faction like Siege.

what on earth are you saying trammie...when benefits are available they are usually taken advantage of I don't care what server its on. Just because we prefer no insurance does not mean that someone on siege wouldn't use the faction bless option. Beside not losing your items when you die(which would be like in tram) what would the people who aren't in factions do? well they'd be screwed wouldnt they

You do realize that prior to Age of Shadows normal shards also didn't have insurance Blessed armor is a bonus for being in factions and was intended. Plus in order to wear the faction armor you have to be in a faction and capturing towns. Isn't that a good thing for getting big and small fights going?

Faction blessing was apparently possible on Siege before it became broken. So I don't see why it is being turned off without discussion on the impact. I personally think this could be a good feature for Siege. The equipment is only blessed for 3 weeks, so crafters would have something they can continually sell.

This issue was the same on all shards pre-Age of Shadows. So you can't play the "oh but you have item insurance and we don't" card. This is something that was implemented back in 2000 and Siege apparently had blessed faction items.

Isn't a limited form of Faction blessing already available on Siege through the revised Hero/Evil system? Or was it removed with the blessing changes?

Bless (60 lifeforce points; duration is 30 minutes; temporarily “blesses” one equipable item, item will note time remaining)
That should be more than enough for Siege. A runic weapon blessed for 3 weeks was a big balance issue on Production shards before AoS, and it would be even worse on Siege nowadays. Best to keep Faction blessing away from Siege...

You guys and your "Walk a mile in our Siege shoes" make me ill. It's just another shard. You act like it takes nerves of steel and ice cold heart to log in and play. The people that brag about Siege and ask for others to come over and try it, are simply the first ones that went over years ago and have developed characters. Good for you, kill each other over and over again, steal from each other over and over again, have ridiculous Role Playing events where you all discuss how great you are over and over again. My opinion is the same as many others with regards to Siege. Shut it down, let the 137 people that play there cancel their accounts and spend resources on something else. The rest of us on regular shards,unless I"m speaking for myself, are simply tired of Siege being the single shard that ruins the game for the rest of us. /end rant.:gun:

I read the words I wanted to read. Draconi said no new blessings for Siege. That spoke volumes for me. The rest can qu8ible about insurance points and what not.

If I have the opportunity to make cool faction armor, I will. It will be looted. I will make more. *smiles*

Just so you know. I can only speak for myself. Yes. Some Siege folk are a bit out there. Good reasons for that. We just wish our way of playing is supported.

I wonder what the silver costs will be for faction-crafted items. From what I can see on Stratics, this is what the costs used to be:

  • Metal armor item- 1,000 silver
  • Leather armor item - 750 silver
  • Weapons (melee or archery) - 1,000 silver
  • Clothing - 500 silver
  • Scrolls - 500 silver

I also assume that the number of faction items you can wear will still be based on your faction rank, as follows:

  • Rank 1-3 - 4 items
  • Rank 4-6 - 5 items
  • Rank 7 or 8 - 6 items
  • Rank 9 - 7 items
  • Rank 10 - 8 items
  • Commanding Lord - 9 items

Faction ranks are determined based on number of kill points, as shown below, with rank recalculated daily:

  • Rank 1 - Below 20%
  • Rank 2 - 20%-39%
  • Rank 3 - 40%-49%
  • Rank 4 - 50%-59%
  • Rank 5 - 60%-69%
  • Rank 6 - 70%-79%
  • Rank 7 - 80%-89%
  • Rank 8 - 90%-94%
  • Rank 9 - 95%-99%
  • Rank 10 - 99.1-100%

Your score atrophies at the rate of 10% per day with a minimum loss of 1 point. Atrophy is only supposed to affect characters with at least 10 kill points; however, this seems to be broken and all characters appear to be affected by kill point atrophy. (Surprise surprise.) [Note that the kill point info on uo.com sometimes seems to be inaccurate. I'm not sure it reflects atrophy for characters that haven't been logged in.]

If the CL has set the tithing rate at 0%, you can earn silver as follows:

  • 40 silver for killing a faction enemy.
  • 20 or 30 silver for killing enemy faction monsters (20 silver for wisps and 30 silver for ogre lords, demons, or silver serpents).
  • 100 silver for removing an enemy faction trap.
  • 20 silver if a trap you placed does damage to the enemy. (I believe this is a one-time award per trap.)
  • 40 silver if a trap you placed kills an enemy. (I am not sure if this is also a one-time per trap award or if it is awarded every time a trap you placed kills an enemy.)

The CL can set the tithing rate at anywhere from 0% (character gets all silver earned) up to 100% (all silver earned goes to the faction treasury), in 10% increments.

What would make it more cool than normal armor? Why would someone want to spend silver to make normal armor? Faction armor should give a nice bump to resists to make it worth while on siege, maby production shards too.

Then why make faction armor? And on the production side why would I want to try to make a Blessed faction suit thats time limit is far shorter then the time to put a good suit together? Why waste the silver when I can just insure my suit? Its a system that dosnt work in AOS UO!!!!!! Unless.... They allow each faction to give a special bonus to armor pieces/weaps. But as of now RNG+AOS properties+Runic Faction gear = Just don't/won't work.

Its a system that even when fixed its still broke.

Even though I have helped secure Atlantic's Shadowlords faction constant victories and then moved on to lead one of the most successful PVP guilds in UO history, I clearly have no PVP experience. :popcorn:

it sucked before on siege when as many people as possible moved to the controlling faction to get blessed armor....now without balancing everyone would just move to the controlling faction....and unless something changed since i last played factions a couple years ago (might have), if you have even 1 kill point your top rank....so it wouldnt really encourage much at all...

if you really want to encourage factions on siege....restore the hero/evil monster ignore so it works on pets like it used too and you'll see the whole damn shard join factions to stop this overpowered pet bull****

This is pretty stupid,

I played a mage on siege I played every temp in this game - a stealth archer or a tamer, and bottom line this may be the most un-balanced system in the game...

all someone needs to do is
make a dexxer give him bushido(dp lightning strike till the guy dies)

There is no incentive of playing a mage on siege, its all tamers dexxers and archers, which is what keeps me and a long list of other pvpers from moving there...

Once faction armro got taken out I quit siege, Unbalanced and un fun...

before age of shadows there was no such thing as LRC, LMC, MR, etc. etc.

I think people fail to realize that siege has had active factions fighting for I can't tell you how many years now... hence why this is a pretty important issue to us.

out of all the shards, its the only one that I know of that consistantly has active factions.

I play on Atlantic too... and with the way people abuse item insurance, theres no real incentive to play factions.
