Jaskinor Family Rescued

From the Great Lakes Tribune at gl.uorpc.net:

A weary youth dressed in ill-fitting armor was found wandering dazed on the outskirts of Britain, babbling about a family hiding in the Yew orc fort. He was brought before Commander Christine Keel of the Royal Britannian Guard who managed to extract the particulars of his story.

The youth explained that he worked for the Jaskinor family who was currently holed up in the Yew orc fort in Felucca. They had been hunted by brigands seeking to steal an unknown treasure from the family patriarch, Sufri Jaskinor.

Commander Keel sent a contingent of Volunteer Royal Guards to rescue the besieged Jaskinors and deliver them into safe hands. The V.R.G. found Sufri and three members of his family Omar, Layla and Nayefa huddled in the small tower at the rear of the structure. The family's few bodyguards had managed to run out the orcs and now patrolled outside the fort.

(Jaskinor family: Sufri, Omar, Layla and Nayefa)

Groups of brigands lurked in the forest around the fort, ultimately daring to engage the body guards and take pot shots at the V.R.G. A reliable source said the attackers were being encouraged by a large black daemon, the description of whom resembled the current general of the Hythloth Conclave: Nether.

Eventually the brigands breached the fort's walls and brought the battle to the V.R.G. The fight resembled the typical faction warfare which rages through Feluccan city streets. Field spells filled the courtyard, while the combatants attacked anyone they didn't recognize. Fortunately, Commander Keel managed to escort all four family members through the chaos to safety.

This was the dumbest event I ever attended. There was no way to tell attackers from defenders. Also the attackers could exit thier gate and enter the defenders gate at will and vice versa. None of the defenders left the orc fort at all. The defenders were randomly going grey so the other defenders simply attacked and killed them. There was no goal to accomplish and ultimately the EM named crown royal the winner with no clear reason why since he died more than most. Maybe that was the goal to die a lot.

I dont usually participate in these events and now I remember why.

Yeah, I'm unsure how anyone was crowned a 'winner'. Logistically it was overwhelmingly chaotic and people had no idea who was killing who and why if they weren't in your immediate circle of friends.

On one hand having fel based events is a great idea, but the level of thought and organization into implementing it needs to be better, imo. Even ensuring two differently colored robes were passed out would have made a big difference. Just food for thought I guess next time one of these rolls around. I don't want the EMs NOT to do Fel based events, it just needs to be, well, better put together than this.

That's why they are called DEFENDERS. They are DEFENDING something.

Why would they leave what they are protecting? That's their job, lol.

The whole point of the event was to keep the four Jaskinor family members alive for 30 minutes (8:03 to 8:33). The defenders were sucessfull.

Why Crown Royal was dubbed winner is a good question, as I watched him kill anyone who went grey for any reason - 'brigands' and 'defenders' alike. That was an unfortunate call.

Throw a couple dozen blues and some faction guys, surounded by walls, and grind/wither spam it up the wazoo, and of coarse you have a winner. Events like this they should turn off the flaging system, no murder counts, and have area effects hit everyone.
