I have a question? Why is it Japan and their shards get items that we do not get here in the United States?

why do we have to celebrate thanksgiving when you Americans do, why cant we celebrate it in game when the Canadians do?
i could throw out example after example like this.
but at the end of the day its just easiest to think of it like this.
the HK servers are the same game but run by a different company. (now, of course its not a different company, but it IS a different dev team, and they attract and retain their customers differently then ours do here)
why did we get 1 shroud of shadows at AOS and the HK servers get 5 robes of umbra?
same game, a different high command.
now, you know what we would do if we were smart.
we would ban together and get one fella to pick up a veteran reward shield on a HK server.
then whenever they get different stuff we could all go pick it up, give it to our shard jumper buddy and he could ferry the items back and forth for us. problem solved!

the dev team for the HK shards make their own stuff for their own shards (lady bugs, toko dyes now singing balls and chests) to retain and pull in their clientele.

Ok I get that reason.
So then the question really should be is why can't the US dev team create items only for the the US shards?
Do we not deserve a special item every now and then even tho we also pay to play?
And its not like the items are free we would hae to pay for them. So why can't the US shards get the option to buy special items from time to time.

The Japanese are a great, long-time playing audience and, while I understand the sentiments behind posts like these? I can't possibly begrudge them this kind of stuff and I also can't begrudge the team for allowing it.
It's a great business tactic. Thanking someone for their patronage while taking their money, because you're selling this stuff only to them.
They are a great UO audience and if I could speak or type in Japanese I'd quite possibly have a character on one of those shards. (Or maybe I'd take Galen to one for a couple of months or something.)

Well its not just having the items that I am talking about, and yes it would be nice to have them, but look at the art work and its quality. The secret chest is awesome and what do we get, some plain jane recolored item that does not spark passion. I just think its sad that we have two different mind sets. One that is hey lets give our folk nice things for being loyal customers and the other that's just seems to have no thought behind it. Maybe, just maybe if none HK shards as you call them were treated like customers on the HK shards, there would be more players because it would be a lot better place. If you look at the poll UOGuide took, the number one response was; attracted new players!!! Maybe if the artwork was a bit better like on the HK shards, they would instead of boring mundane stuff. Its just a thought.
IMO it is not a smart business model. While it may seem nice to offer them something special, the flip side of that coin is a very loud message to all of the other players around the world that their subscription to this game is somehow worth less. That is not the kind of message I would want to send my customers.
I see no logical rationale for a business to limit the sale of a digital good to a small geographic region when there is worldwide demand for the item. IMO it shows very poor judgement.

Well its not just for sale, can't they earn these items in game?
My issue is soley related to those items available for purchase or promotional items as part of a purchase that are available on the Asian UO site which are not available for purchase on other country's site.
What does this have to do with this post? This is a game. What I'm trying to ask here is, if this was a chess game made one company, why do we have to play with plastic chessmen and a cardboard playing field, while others get to play on a marble board with gold and silver chessmen when we are all playing the same game from the same company? Why is there a difference just because they're on the other side of the globe. It's the same game, so all the pieces should be the same regardless of where you play.So if it's up to developers within a region like you're suggesting, then which are insinuating IS EITHER A: that non-Japanese developers don't have the skills. Or B: or we as non-Japanese players have not earned a right to better graphics and items. Just like when I was in Germany, I went to a German friend's house and played Monopoly. It was exact same game as in the United States, except everything was in German. The names of the property had not been changed nor the money. Monopoly is Monopoly the matter where you play it. So why should players in non-Japanese shards playing Ultima online be playing a different game than those on the Japanese shard. Are there things on the non-Japanese shards being withheld from those who play on the Japanese shards? If so that's wrong to. Ultima online, should be Ultima online no matter which shard you play on.

you will see unattended macroing right at luna bank for WEEKS on end 24/7 and no one does anything about it.
where do you think 99% of resources in game that are for sale come from?
i was at the yew bank one day and watched 10 different recall miners come in and out, in and out over and over..... all..... day...... long
its the same game, but its a different game.

Each items are not only good response for Japanese.
Only few people get secret chest and not few people get new singing bells, but it doesn't make big noise...
Although surprised by their way of thinking, I think that it has seldom succeeded as business.
Although the player in English-speaking countries might have asked my Shard for the armor engraving tool before, I needed to suspect that it was Duped gold or not.
then remaining 3-4ch was given free, it was strange that item was not primarily sold except Japan.
The world is filled in the mystery and the trap.

You can always try to get a singing ball and/or secret chest from those that attended the Fairfax party.... Each of us got one of those, and theyere weren't duplicates given out like the robes....

Actually, outcry, it's because they do care.
I heard, off the record, that the secret chests are bugged (won't say how, as per Stratics regs, but we were told when we got our free ones, not to use them for storage until the bug fix was announced), and that's the delay for them showing on the US store. That they're bugged, and still on the Asian store, to me says that all they care for is the mighty HK$, not the players.

Nonsense.
Its not nonesense. its the truth. I dont begrudge those shards their gifts but it'd be nice if our devs gave a toss and showed the same regard for their customers. They obviously dont.
And can we cut the "US Shard" BS. There are other shards outside of the USyou know. The Team America crap wears thin after a while.

I am arguing the statement that the Devs do not care. To this I say nonsense. If pixel crack from an online store is your measure of care from a Dev then we are very far apart on what we consider care.
You would rather have the Ems sell items at the store for money than winning them at an event ?
you are correct the Devs care, I should say the people who run the UO Store do not care........
I think this one has outlived any usefulness it ever had.
