I believe I have a general idea of what these templates are, but please tell me what they are...

They are gimp templates that combine necro with bushido. Vampire form Sammies are very popular as a gimpy template, especially in PvP. I personally can't stand it.

No reason to be embarrased. That's what the forum is for: sharing information.

Samurai Vampire = Sampire
Wraith Samurai = Wammy (Whammy)
They each use a different Necro spell characteristic for the added bonuses of leaching, healing, etc. I remember reading about them for the last several months and I'm certain that further - perhaps a lot further - back in the forum there are articles that discuss the exact characteristics, methods, +/- affects, etc of both. Seems that some persons are typically sold on one version or the other wholeheartedly so several camps have developed. Personally I use neither and don't intend to.
If I'm not mistaken the thumbnailed thread "For those who are unsure" has some content about them inside and there are more over about two or three pages back.
Probably not the complete answer you where looking for but hope it's at least it's a start.

I'm assuming you'll say that "any combination of skills that are better then the char I PvP with", but I'll wait for your definition.

Yeah, just because some people "stream line" their templates does not make them gimp.

A gimp is someone that has no skill to play and depends on other stuff.

I know that it does take some degree of skill to play a wammy in timing etc..

If anyone has problem with Sampires in PvP... it's called tali of ward removal - and find one off a peerless that is "owned by no one" and you don't even have to insure it.

Gimp basically means crap, useless, and so forth, like that man has a gimp leg.

Twink is a better term.

Gimp, twink, whatever. =) I LIKE soulstones, and I like the ability to switch templates around. Now hopefully with this new doom system I can eventually get a set of midnight bracers that are not cursed.

Its too bad that wraith form doesn't leech mana with archery.

Finding a decent and speedy macing weapon is going to be quite a challenge.
