I've been having this problem for a long time (years) and I'm not seeing it mentioned here in the bug forum. I use the EC.
I like my backpack in grid format. SOME items when dropped into my backpack, will drop like 20 rows down. Example: my Ethereal Unicorn. When I double-click myself to get off the unicorn, it pops into my backpack 20 rows below my last item.
And today when I was scribing some scrolls, those also showed up way down in my backpack. But when I scribed a runebook, it popped into the closest empty slot.
Is this a known bug?
