He's on the Stratics OT forums last I checked.
And Draconi said they didn't have time to implement the features on the beetle so it's just a "huh, isn't that interesting" feature.

We have no idea what mining beatle usefulness is. Besides look at things like this, Whatever helps the non scripter helps the scripter more- Whatever makes things harder for scripter will make things even more harder on non scripters. Simple and to the point.

The Beetle (a bug
) is set to mining, one walks around and Ore Pops out on the ground ... mind you not quite the way, were and frequency I would want but regardless it does these things.I tried putting Ore and Ingots on my Beetle and it said there is no container there. I fed it meat and it was Happy.
And I am not sure how this is going to benefit Scriptors more than they already have.
They take on the color of the ore they've eaten....until it leaves their system. The piles of ore on the ground might be beetle dung. (Can't shake the feeling someone has a fascination with dung beetles and had to share it with us somehow.)

The only way I will see the Mace & Shield glasses is if I buy them! When you try to counter script users by making a task or quest too complicated and time consuming, honest players don't bother doing them.

Lets not even think about that overated software easily circumvented unless this was a fps with unlimited health,unlimited armor,unlimited invisibility like well known hacks. And if just me can think of ways to get around it imagine what experts can do.

You know what else helps scripters? Their ability to use game systems. Also: other players to buy their ill-gotten wares.

Not too sure how this beetle would help scripters. It's not like it is going to speed up their mining in any significant way. The beetle doesn't act as a container. Players can only hold so much ore in their pack since it ways a ton. I don't see how this would change anything since you more likely to be stuck with more ore than you can hold.
The "pack" beetle is much more of a benefit for scipters than this "mining" beetle.

hard to test anything when they push the enhanced client adn the buggers are not visable in it to test

It's amazing how much knowledge of the actual subject can add to the discussion.
I'd love to see a scripter use this beetle for mining. I can see it now even.
Sitting in place for approximately 5 hours, recall, repeat.
Cool, my miner can come over with his beetle and attack the bot and see how long it takes for him to digest.
I can see them being more useful as a potential bodyguard than as a mining bug. I still think they're fun though

Maplestone, how many control slots do these things take? Wasn't it at least 3?
Four if I remember correctly - I haven't checked it's latest incarnation.
There were some rather interesting bugs with this thing that led to lots of wild speculation about what its "purpose" might be (after all, beetles have become associated with being living tools). It's a cool creature, but I suspect people are overthinking it.
