I tamed a nightmare, and released it in my stable in my house...just to see if he would fit...and if he could get out. He can't.

I came back with my nightmare, and they agroed each other through the wall. Now they are casting buffs on themselves and snorting and such...both are gaining magery, eval, and med.

Is this legal, or should I break it up?

Yeah, it's illegal. Penning up any animal and agro'ing it, on you or another pet, is. :( It sucks.

Ah...I guess it doesn't matter that it agro'ed my mare. No worries, I was mainly comparing the two...and this new one is nothing compared to the one I have.

I will take him to Luna and give him away.

Thanks!

One thing that I did for a while, I don't know if it was legal or not, I had a house a couple screens above travesty entrance (yes, there is a legal spot there), and I would tame some ki-rins and put them on my porch. Then I would lure some ninjas and hiryus over and watch them get blasted. It was fun, hope it wasn't illegal.

I have been to jail twice for doing similar things.

Once i had like 15 draggies in the floor of the center room of my castle for sorting when somone ran in, castle was public, and agroed them all tried to leave but ll the draggies left with him as they got booted. Alas i went to jail and was told that it is illegal to release pets like that.

Second i had pens in a large fel house to sell Cu's out of. I went to jail this time for illegal house design.. Being that i could use the pens for traiing of skills without risk. Not what i was doing but that was the warning.

so you had both covered, be carful when you have pens in your house and do not leave pets there definatly not more that one.

I suppose you could make it legal once you are Queen, then also have someone else clean up the mess for you.

I know they couldn't have gotten me for illegal house design, because it was a stock design, the 2 story villa. I had them on the upper level porch, like 10 of them total I think.

No...I don't want to be Queen. I want my sister, Abigail...the rightful heir to the throne...to be Queen.

I will just have to take the throne by force and give it to her in seems.

I am giving Casca a little more time to see if he responds to Abigail's diplomatic approach...then I start raising an army! :gun:

you don't need to use pens for magery/med, just sick two pets on each other and they'll go blue after a couple min and keep gaining without damaging each other.

How about doing it the other way around... your mare inside the house without a so called "pen" area, all stay, and turning the other mare loose outside, invis until the released mare aggros the other one? Is that legal?

It's all legal if you don't get caught.

Sounds like a great way to train pets.
Who's gonna know?
Just bust the horse outta there if anyone strange shows up.

A general rule of thumb is that if you have to ask if something is illegal, it most likely is.

A general rule of thumb is that if you have to ask if something is illegal, UO is usually so stupidly designed and implemented that it doesn't inherently prevent or negate the usefulness of that something, and instead that something is simply deemed "bannable" and GM time is wasted in getting rid of any paying customers who happen to perform said something.

I'm not sure that merely leaving some pets in a house is the issue, more the penning up and them gaining from each other. It's obviously a problem if you're using the pets for skill gain (theirs or yours) but wild pets in a house shouldn't be bannable.

Otherwise, if your stable is full and you need to pull out a bad pet to replace it with something better, your house is the only really safe location. Friends just aren't always available with enough free slots. And I'm sure there is mention in the rules somewhere that pets can be left in your house for legit reasons.

It's especially dubious handing out bans when some players are using the auto stable at home and it's not logging their pets out. Resulting in unintended wild pets. I don't think folks should use auto stable excessively, but it shouldn't be a bannable offence :D

Has anyone ever tried this method?

I let my pets spar from time to time, but I have never had them go blue while they were doing so.

Maybe I didn't wait long enough?

Surely allowing your pets to spar while you vet them is not illegal. 2 players can do the exact same thing, so I cannot imagine it would be.

Also, if allowing pets to spar inside your house with one in a pen is illegal, then why is fighting a player made Golem with 100% poison weapon legal? Same effect.

If both pets are not penned, then it's totally fine. For some reason, EA hates us penning up the animals.

And I agree on the golem thing, it makes no sense why they allow one but not the other.

its illegal because players can train skills.
Disco, Provo, Peace, and a miriad of others without any risk.

Training pets in any manner doesnt seem to get picked on its just player skills.

And yes golems should be fixed they tried with making them take damage but it didnt work.

I believe the illegal bit comes from the blocking aspect which makes it much safer to train said pets or players. 2 separated pets can cast on each other and you don't have to deal with the melee damage at the same time. But put together obviously they're going to damage each other more.

I'd love to see a lot of the static training methods changed so folks didn't simply park and go AFK with pets and players, but I doubt EA will take away said training dummies now. Much easier to hand out toys than to take them away ;)
