Apparently hunger increases when your hp regenerates (rather than being healed by skill or magical means). No other stat seems to affect becoming hungry, although I would have stamina would be a natural. Also, there's no reason why doing a lot of mental work shouldn't whet one's appetite.
Anyhow..
I have a character with a high hp regen suit and a weak trapped box. I sit there damaging myself and allowing the health to go up - rather rapidly as it's a decent suit. Then I gorge on wooden bowls of peas. It's easy enough to crank out a few dozen bowls this way and stash them for your chef to use.
For those of you who like the math, I found on that - on average- fishsteaks replenish around as much hunger as regenerating 44hp will create. I went on to test bowls of peas, and it's more to the tune of 52hp. I stopped testing after a few hundred runs & vowed to do a complete test of all foods and various methods some day, but I've yet to get back to it. So yes, for most chars, nearly killing yourself is worth about 2 wooden bowls..
A few things I need try are:
- various wooden bowl foods, which is most efficient?
- hpr suits vs no hpr, which is faster/better?
- fishsteak through to roast pig, how much does each food replenish?
- x 1000's of times for more accurate numbers.
If anyone wants to try this out & post their results I'd love to hear them. Maybe we could work out a table of the "value" of various foods.
