Is there a way to not get the "Mage Armor" mod when making exc metal samurai armor?

I asked in GC last night and got the answer "no". I assume that is correct but figured I´d ask here anyway in case someone knows a way.

Planning on reforging some armor using dull hammers for a char that doesn´t want nor need the "Mage armor" property. So if there´s a way to not get it then those mod slots wouldn´t go wasted.
