[General] Is there a way (how ?) to maximize resistances through Reforging/Refining and not use Imbuing ?

We know that, through imbuing, we are allocated a weight of 500% to imbue modifiers on items.

Now, imbuing for Resistances costs a FLAT 100% for EACH resistance regardless of how many reistances points we imbue in a given resistance.

Therefore, if a Crafter was to be able to maximize resistances in ways "other" then imbuing, they could save 100% imbuing weight for each resistance not imbued, which could go towards OTHER, also very important modifiers on a suit....

Question is, is out there a way to "maximize" resistances for a suit without having to imbue them or, at the very least, to reduce the imbuing of resistances to a bare minimum so as to leave all of that imbuing weight usually used to imbue Resistances be used for "other" modifiers ?

Perhaps through Reforging and Refining ?

But how could this be done ?

Anyone well knowledged into the Arts of crafting in Ultima Online can suggest a way to get this done ?

Use Legendary artifacts to carry the burden of resists.
But besides using a Legendary item or 2 to be used to carry the burden of resists, is out there a more clever use of the Crafting tools we are given, Reforging, Refining and Imbuing to craft a better suit ?

Furthermore, usually Legendary items come with a toll... a negative property like
  • Prized – Item insurance cost is increased, cannot be blessed
  • Massive – Increased strength requirement
  • Unwieldy – Increased item weight
  • Cursed – Cannot be insured or blessed
  • Antique – Increased durability loss, can be powdered 3 times (excluding jewelry, which cannot be powdered). Each powder will reduce max durability to 250, 200, and 150 respectively. Can be repaired.
My concern about using Legendary pieces with Negative Properties to Craft an entire suit around, is that once that Legendary piece is gone because it destroyes etc., the entire suit become unusable unless the same piece is found again....

Typically legendary items will be Brittle which is what 90% of the population is using. Brittle acts just like the suit is imbued (can't increase Durb) and I've literally had the same suit for over a year (on several chars) with no durability issues. I think you might be overthinking things here. Roll with a legendary item and enjoy all the perks; repair the suit as needed. If you are anything except a sampire you should have the suit for a very long time and even if you use a samp it should last maybe half that time.

No, whether it is imbuing or Reforging you will always, and I mean always, lose intensity/#of mods if you land a resist as an add. You can Minimize how many resists you need by burning tons of resources and using a spreadsheet, but with legendaries existing, this is pointless.

Legendary artifacts get +15 to the minimum to 4+ Resists without really sacrificing any weight when compared to reforged armor. Slap 2 legendaries in there and you can reforge/imbue whatever you want on the rest usually.

Well like I said in the other thread you posted, You reduce spending weight on resists by starting with base pieces with the least spread resists possible. Keep your 15's+ with as low as possible every other resist, ditch anything that rolls all 10's. This will allow you to only imbue the resists you need without wasting any weight over-imbuing resists already on the piece.
