Is there a glitch with protection?

I know protection lowers my FC, and is suposed to lower resist. However with no armor and GM resist I cast it and still see my resist as 40. IS this correct or is my client wigging out?

Do you have reactive armor or some other spell cast?

I think that is correct. GM Resist keeps your minimum resists from going under 40. I think it will also stay at 40 if someone uses a spell to reduce your resists.

Protection should lower your resisting spells skill to 65 (or 70 if you have GM inscription) so this should reduce your resists to 16 (or 20 with GM inscription).

Sounds like you're not getting updated. Try casting a few fireballs on yourself with protection on and off. See if there is any difference in the damage you do that would be consistent with 40/16(20) fire resist.
