Is The Honor Virtue Broken?

Hello all,

I recently got into the habit of looking for Greater Dragons to tame, after a long time away from using the skill... Having Honor tamed a good one, I then needed to go and get that cursed last bubble of Honor back as usual. I've been using the Succubi in Fandancer Dojo, and previously I could get it within about 30 minutes of constant killing, or around 80 kills total (I collect all the gold which gives me a rough idea of how many I've dropped too, using Bag Of Sending when I get full). However now, there seems to be a bug with how Honor is awarded. I use the following macro in the Enhanced Client;

Honor > WaitForTarg > Cursor Target Current > All Kill > WaitForTarg > Cursor Target Current

As long as I am in range, and it's not taken any damage (or buffed itself) the macro always completes, my pets attack and I see the message "You Have Started Honorable Combat" in the System window.

However, it randomly seems to fail to award Honor after it completes. I've tried duplicating the initial attack, and my behaviour during the fight, but there's no way to make it consistently award the Honor, or at least to display the "You Have Gained In Honor" message, as well as Fame/Karma (although I don't get Karma now as I'm at the cap where Succubi cannot take you further).

I've now killed something like 200 Succubi, and been there for around 3 hours and I'm still waiting on the final bulb. I don't know how many have actually completed though, so I'm not sure how many credits I've earned there, so I can't in turn be sure if I'm getting the correct Honor for each Succubi in turn.

Has anyone else come across this?

Remember that there is a penalty to honor gains for the EACH of the following:

1. If you aren't within a few (3?) steps of the creature killed when it dies.
2. If pets or summons are used to do damage to the target.
3. If Damaging spells are used by you or your pet to damage the target.
(I believe there are others as well)

These modifiers could, together, result in the amount of honor from these to be reduced to zero.

It could be that the few times you gain honor may be from you being close enough to where the first penalty doesn't apply, but if all 3 do, you fail to collect any.

I've not tried getting my tamer up past 4 dots into follower, but I managed to get my SMITH to knight of honor (granted, he is a legendary macer paladin, in addition to 120 smith & 100 mining), fighting a (now-gone) leftover event spawn of Ancient Liches (the Khaldun type) outside Luna gates (so I wasn't getting the hight Fel fame bonus from them).

You might have to switch over to a mage weapon (melee preferred, but you could probably use a bow until the succubi are redlined, and switch) and non-casting pets, and beat them down, to start getting Honor points again.

Hello Basara,

You should always get the "You Have Gained Honor" message irrespective of the level of reward once you start Honorable combat. I don't believe however those conditions you mention were how Honor currently is; they were extant in the past, and I tested for those in case it had been reverted to that standard recently, but even standing right next to my pet and not moving or firing spells except healing on myself would cause a complete failure in getting any Honor.

After making this post though, I went back to the Succubi, and it now seems to be working as before though... that is, the problem I was seeing, of the Honor virtue just not completing is now gone after 2 days of it being thus, and you will always get at least the message. I'm also back at Knight of Honor, despite standing way more than 3 steps away to stay out of the Succubi Area of Effect spells as I always did.

That doesn't mean that I am not getting less Honor for using pets or spells however; but only that if there is a penalty, it's not enough to stop Honor progression again, just as it wasn't when I last tried it. What the bug was though over the last few days I'm not sure though... only that it was genuinely just not even giving an Honor gain message when I was eligible for at least some.
