Is it possible to chop down the height of the Totem?

I would like to use the base for decoration but that thing is way too tall to use. I am tossing around the idea of using them in combination with curtains to make a tent on the roof of a keep.

4 corner pillars, 1 center pillar, 4 sets of curtains and the usual goza for the ceiling of the tent.

Anyone have any ideas?

why not use them as is.... double the height of the curtains (if you have enough), maybe making the top layer a tile off from the bottom layer (not sure about that, might look ucky instead of gently overlapping) ..... whatever is left of the totems above that should look alright, kinda like very large corner posts, and ya got that odd looking newel on top of the post
