Is Hit Lower Defense effective for PvM?

Does the HLD effect monsters or would it be better for me to look into something else for PvM?

HLD does appear to work on monsters.

For PvM, HLA is more commonly sought after, however.

HLD% is a great mod and highly desired by dexers in both PvM and PvP. Lots of people get it from the Mace & Shield Reading Glasses though, which has an innate 30% HLD bonus.

It's especially nice to have HLD when fighting Dark Fathers in Doom.

Actually, they're both equally sought after. HLD is much easier for most since it's on the M&S glasses and HLA is only available on weapons.
