Is duping seriously this popular?

"I use a couple of boats on a few shards to store stuff because the guild I belong to likes to play on several shards and we share houses."

I know that you belong to a guild that shard hops. I recall you posting and telling us all that last year when you had an account banned during the duped val hammer bans.

I surmised back then and I also posted here that un-beknownst to you one of your guildies had probably left 30 or more val hammers in the house you owned and allowed everyone in the guild access to and that was one of the dangers of allowing everyone in your guild to store things in your house.

I went hunting a link but for some reason now Stratics seems to only allow me to search back 1 year, (it used to allow us to do an archive search of up to 3 years back) the val hammer bans occurred around August 2008, over a year ago, so no luck.

I am sure some astute readers of UHall will remember that you posted you had an account banned back then and you didn't have a clue why.

"And if you think I'm lying..."

I think boats are an excellent way to store illegal items and avoid having your account banned.

I also think 2 + 2 = 4.
Well, your math is way off dear. I made a very long post explaining why I thought that account was banned. Too bad for you that you don't have a very good memory.

Here you go, XLaCeD: http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=94092&highlight=account+banned. Happy reading. I have nothing to hide. At the time that happened, I had given Jeremy the names of ALL of my accounts not just once, but TWO TIMES as part of applying to join a focus group. Every account is tied to the same credit card.

EA has had ample opportunity to check me and my accounts out since then. Every last one of my other accounts is still in good standing. No warnings, no flags, no account bans.

I did something stupid a few years back and apparently purchased from a broker something that was duped and it must have been flagged and the account name came up when they did the account bannings last year. The more I've thought about it since it happened, the more I lean towards thinking it was powder of fortification purchased on Baja, but I'll never know for sure because EA apparently has a policy of not providing an explanation for these situations.

What was left of a bag of powder that I purchased and divvied up with guildmates disappeared mysteriously in around October 2006 and although at the time I wondered if a guildmate had taken it, in my heart of hearts I just couldn't pin the crime on anyone I played with at the time. Since the bag was in a house I had on Baja and that was tied to the account that was banned, I'm left to assume now that it was the reason my account was banned. I don't think my account was banned because someone else in my guild had something illegal stored in the house on the account because the house was on Napa and no one in the guild had any characters there that could have used valorite hammers or even had enough gold on that shard to waste on something like that. We went to Napa in early 2008, did our faction thing, no one on the shard gave a hoot, and we moved on but left characters and house there. No one was actively playing on that shard in the summer of 2008 except to get GGS gains.

So believe me or don't believe me. I don't care. I've never duped a damn thing in my life and never will. However, I probably have purchased duped stuff without knowing it, as have probably thousands of other people who play UO.

I think I've learned my lesson about buying stuff from brokers. Too bad I didn't learn it earlier and made a stupid mistake buying from them when I did. I think I've paid the price, admitted publicly I was STUPID and tried to move on and not do anything that dumb ever again. Unfortunately, I guess for folks like you that isn't enough, is it?

If you can afford to buy items for cash off of brokers and help support them and the dupers who supply them then you can afford to pay for extra house holding accounts every 90 days or 4 times a year and help support UO.

You, by your own words, shouldn't need to use boats for free storage.

Free storage on boats needs banning due to loss of revenue for UO by people who aren't paying for the storage of their items by using houses which means an acct must be paid every 90 days to hold that house the items stored in it...

(We couldn't get more stable slots across the board due to lack of server storage space, this abuse of totally free boat storage is one of the reasons why.)

Free storage on boats needs banning due to dupers being able to freely store their dupes on boats that have no connection to their character or to their account, so that they have no fear of their accounts being banned...

Free storage on boats needs banning because we simply have way too many boats of cargo docked all over hell since Luna cheaters had their houses turned to rubble.

It's JUST PLAIN WRONG to be sailing along and bump into 30 boats in a cluster with names such as 'crystal tiles', 'plain plants', "paragon arties', and 'xmas gifts.

I don't wanna see someone's labeled boxes of stored household furnishings in the middle of the freaking ocean when I am supposed to be seeing sea serpents and water elementals and dolphins for God's sake.

I really don't care why your account was banned, as I said, I gave you the benefit of the doubt back then by surmising that one of your guildies most likely left val hammers in your guild house, un-beknownst to you, meaning that you were guilty of trusting others but innocent of being the owner of duped val hammers.

Since your account was banned during the val hammer bannings of August 2008, no I won't accept that is was due to some other mysterious dupe that you had purchased years before in 2006, that's just plain silly.

I trust that EA knew what they were doing and correctly tagged your account as being in possession of 30 or more val hammers, which was grounds for account banning and deletion at that time.

"I don't think my account was banned because someone else in my guild had something illegal stored in the house on the account because the house was on Napa and no one in the guild had any characters there that could have used valorite hammers or even had enough gold on that shard to waste on something like that."

I guessed that it was one of your guildie's val hammers that got your account banned during the duped val hammer bans, but if you insist it couldn't have been due to any of your guildies, I can accept that just as easily.
