Is dragon always a threat to elf characters?

I used to play human characters only. Recently I made an elf character. I was fighting all monsters OK until today a passing-by dragon hit me something and knocked me 80 health points in one shot. I thought maybe I had an opposing super slayer weapon in my bag. But after I checked, NO!

Did they just beef up dragons? Or dragons always like to eat elves that I just don't know? Thanks!

There is a new "greater" dragon, fair chance you had an encounter with one.

I used to train resist skill by fighting demons in chaos temple of fire island. There used to be only two dragons near by. One on the west lot and the other inside the basement of the temple. But today I saw lots of dragons roaring around in the area. It seems that spawn pattern has changed in the chaos temple. Am I right? Also my elf got hit by bleeding attack by a dragon. I just don't know if the human character will be also affected by the bleeding attack.

That is ridiculous. It just got hit with a 100 points fireball. My armor has 70 fire resists. How could anyone survive this?

....um , Its a dragon. =P

and yes humans get the same bleed from them on some hits. But dont worry
not all dragons are that strong just the rare sneaky elder dragons.
I like that new challange and the mystery. ^^

They capped firebreath damage, so that should not be possible against 70 resists. Especially as I tamed some of them and hat 70 fire resists and they it me for 50 something damage.
Damn paragondragon breath killed me though each time against 40 resists.

They beefed them up some ... but not to worry. This is what you should expect as a weaker player in the midst of training. I can point people to the very message thread that states that ... should they be needing a reminder.

Anyone who says a dragon fireball did 100 damage to them with 70s to all resists is either lying or they missed something and don't know they're lying.

Not lying. I work very hard to get the very best armor. Almost all 70 resists and 150 on strength and 146 on hp. My problem is that the computer is cheating. The damage is scaled up to kill me. As I said, the damage per hit is from 60 to 100. Although the average is 70's, occasionally it will hit 100. If there are demons or drakes nearby, I am dead.

If this is what you think then that isn't your problem.

Nope. I saw the number 100 when it hits me. That is why I know the computer is cheating on me.

Mookin ... I have an all-70s suit with DI, good stats, dragon-slayer and I died twice to one. It teleported to me, flamestrike, physical hit and poison all in one.

I had 2 HP left of 108, Cleanse by fire could not go off due to poison tick and I died. It can and does happen. And a witness to my demise was right behind me in hitting the dirt.

A tamer peacing might allow others to nail it, but I am here to tell you, they hit in combo including (I believe) Blood Oath or Bleed Attack as well. Plus they heal quite effectively when they have that chance.

With 70 Physical Resist, their Claws/Bite does 40s damage. With 70 Fire Resist and them at full health, their' Firebreath does 60 damage at max. Only way i can think you got hit with 100 Damage is if you had Enemy of One up on the normal Dragons when the Great Wyrm hit you with it's Melee.

They can't do Blood Oath, but they do Bleed Attack. Plus i've seen Bards with 120.0 Music/120.0 Peacing and a Reptile Slayer fail most of the time on peacing them, and even when they succeed, it only lasts a few seconds. Great Wyrms have a Barding Difficulty of 160.0

That's not true. I have all 70s and I've been hit several times with firebreath for 65+. Highest so far is 82.

Then you and the other guy's chars must be bugged. They capped the damage a creature's Breath Attack can do awhile back. With 70 Fire Resist, that capped damage becomes 60. Since that publish, with 70 Fire Resist, i have never been hit for more than 60 damage from a Breath Attack, even coming from Rend. The only creature i can think of that can kill a full health, all 70's Resist person in a single breath attack is maybe an Abscess, since Hydras breathe out 3 different Breath Attacks at the same time, each one doing a different type of Elemental Damage.

I did have EoO cast. I was fighting demons.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you had EoO on the demons, the drags would hit you for more then normal as the EoO gives all others more damage dealt to you.

An ability that allows the paladin to become much stronger against the next type of enemy hit, but weaker against other types of enemies. Increases the physical damage against the enemy type while increasing the damage inflicted by other types.

The greater dragon will hit you based on its health with the firebreath attack. Most good dexxers with 70s can take one firebreath from a greater. The trick is to have some kind of health leech and healing going, and run the hell away as soon as you see it yourself hit to hard. get them beaten down it gets easier. I run a 150 dex vampire with blackthorne's reptile slayer kryss and 90 healing and i can generally joust them down a bit and go in and tank them to death or back off and then heal a tamer.

yes the only thing that can one hit kill me if i don't have some kind of damage increasing curse on me or e00 on wrong critter is abcess. i have yet to really bother trying to solo him, it just is damned nearly impossible to live for me. Also you should know... the eoo on one dragon walking down the path you have on will not apply to the different type...last time i was in there at least. So you may enemy of one a normal one then go get hit by a greater and then you are toast.

EoO's 100% Damage Increase (Double Damage to you) from every other creature only applies to melee attacks, not spells.

Yes, but he was also mentioning he was hit by one for like 80 when he ran into it. I was just posting since he mentioned the EoO.

But I assure you OP, they have no preference in their meals.

You must be very important, for the game to seek you out apart from all the others.
The EoO is what did it. Double damage from anything but a demon.
