LOL... I think it's a great way to get the various player styles to interact. A crafter can't tame it... but he can ask a tamer to do it. Thus... the two players talk. I think it's important that people interact in this game... it adds sooooooooooooooooooo much! Thats one of the things that is so fricken fabulous about this expansion... the new craftables push people to work together to make something because it requires so many different skills to accomplish one item. It ROCKS! Sorry you are unhappy... but I have to disagree with your reasoning. What shard are you on.. I have not seen the new beetles but I'll tame you one... I never charge for taming for others...
unless they've changed recently, if you're expecting the beetle to mine for you you're in for a disappointment.

I think what he means is you need to have actual taming to hold the iron beetle. A friend on Origin tamed one and his crafter cannot accept it with 30 taming and it took his tamer 85 skill minimum to tame.
What does your crafter want to use it for? From what I understand, all it does right now is eat ore. You can just as easily throw it in the trash can at Luna bank for that.

As of now they aren't much use.
I hear they poop ore when they have the runs, but not much use for a crafter yet.
Aye they eat ore. Anyone seen their poo?

It's deep location, quirkiness and UO's long history of utility beetles just screams "I must be important somehow". This creature has a long, long history of getting peoples' imaginations fired up with all sorts of wild theories as to what it might "be for" ... but I think excitement needs to be tempered with a little caution that this creature may not be a tool.

You only need 30 spiritspeak for the horde minion, but yeah.. a little more than the minimum 30 necro is needed to summon it. I guess with necro you can go wraith form and won't need the magery to recall. Add 5 taming and you could wear the bloodwood spirit for +5 Necro / +10 SS instead..the plastic bag is not the problem

Hmm, odd little template. I wonder if anyone will use it. I did put mining on my tamer briefly to go after orc brutes.. and remember the verite & gold ore elementals south of Ver Lor Reg? Gone now, but not a bad spot in its day.
I believe the iron beetle takes up more than two control slots. Therefore, even if your miner could control one, you wouldn't be able to have one out of the stable simultaneously with a fire beetle or a blue beetle.
