Many of you have been wondering about the new ongoing invasions and what causes them. The invasions are triggered by a Felucca cities town sigil being captured by one of the two Chaos Factions (Shadowlords or Minex). This is accomplished by a faction member with an high stealing skill level pilfering a cities sigil and returning it to their factions stronghold in order for it to be corrupted. Up to three cities can be invaded at a time, and the best way to find out what ones is to either say to a town crier or a Sherry the mouse Statue the word “News”. Keep repeating the word “News” till you have see all the present towns under invasion. If you see there is no news or the same town keeps coming up, then either no city is being invaded or only one or two are under attack. The invasion will remain active till one of two things happen. Either the invading forces are defeated or the stolen sigil is recaptured by an Order faction (True Britannians or Council of Mages).
When a Trammel invasion starts the affected cities guard zone will disappear and forces of the Shadowlords will over run the city. To help keep innocent and uninformed players safe players from logging into a town under a active invasion they will be relocated to Jhelom. Also players trying to recall or gate into a invasion zone will also be rerouted to Jhelom for their own safety.
When a invasion starts the townspeople become corrupted by the Shadowlords. Corrupted townspeople will change to one of three states of being.
Hatred
NPCs aggressively attack players and other NPCs
Falsehood
NPCs attempt to steal from players
Each NPC can only steal one item, normal theft checks apply
Item is returned to the player if the NPC dies or is purified when the invasion ends (player must be in the city)
Cowardice
NPCs flee from players
Not all the cities are open to invasion so I have listed below what cities can be besieged and the types of monsters to look for in each of them.
Britain: Dragons
Skara Brae: Elementals
Magincia: Undead
Minoc: Plague
Moonglow: Void
Trinsic: Orcs
Vesper: Rogue Ophidians
Yew: Daemons
Besides these creatures there will also be an “Army of Shadows” made up of Humans and Elves along with them. This army will be made up of four basic class types and these are:
Warrior
Ranger
Mage
Healer
Also this Army has a rank system the higher the rank the tougher they are to kill and the better the rewards for slaying one of them. Here is the ranks from lowest to highest:
Recruit
Scout
Corporal
Lieutenant
Captain
General
You may be asking yourself what type of rewards The Shadowlord Army drops? The ranked soldiers drop weapons or spellbooks as rewards to the top attacker or top three attackers in captains and generals cases, and when you slay an army member the item will drop directly into your backpack. Warriors and Rangers will drop the weapons and Mages and Healers will drop the spellbooks. (Pull up their paperdoll to see what class they are and what weapon they may drop to you.)
Here are some of the better items I have recovered from Generals
Properties on the items scale upwards with difficulty of the mob, for
example:
The types of weapons you may find on the warriors are as follows:
dagger, kryss, short Spear, club, war mace, war hammer, bardiche, broadsword, scimitar, viking sword, katana, halberd
The types of weapons you may find on rangers are as follows:
crossbow, bow, heavy crossbow
The spellbooks that drop depending on the rank of the army member carrying it, could have many have the following properties depending on rank. Faster Casting Recovery, Spell Damage Increase, Lower Mana Cost, and Mana Regeneration.
A Recruits spellbooks will have 10 spells already in it where a generals spellbook will even be full of all the known spells.
When the majority of the invasion spawn has been defeated the final stage of the invasion will start and a Crimson Dragon will appear. If you are a tamer beware of this dragon because it can make your tame dragons go wild in its presence. The Crimson Dragons loot is comparable to a peerless bosses when it is slain. Once the Crimson Dragon has been defeated the invasion of that city is complete.
Hope that answers some of your questions.
