And before you all go monkey nuts because the interviewer (Sanya) says we're "insane even by community standards" you have to admit... She's right.

I always like seeing the post-employment interviews since the gag is somewhat lifted.

Also, Jeremy's name remains a mystery. And... she is watching us.

I always wondered why a community rep would use their real name given the amount of abuse they need to endure. I guess that answers my question

"insane even by community standards" ... you know, that's almost a bragging point.

I completely agree about the state of the website and the learning curve - even though she did a lot of work on it, there's so much more to do to make it really feel like a modern playguide - it's easy to forget just how deep and complex and devoid of tutorials this game is.

KR's release ... *thinks back nostalgicly to that infamous night of guessing URLs based on Inu's rantings*

Whoever made that dingos comment really got the feeling right ... I suddenly have an urge to ask for a spawn of dingos taking messenger NPCs from the edge of some city.

If I was representing this dev team I'd hide my true identity too. I'd also not tell my friends and family where I worked. I'd lie and say I was a garbage man. You know, something respectable.

The revalation that the KR release was due to "miscommunication" doesn;t surprise me in the least.

I would have been happy had they kept it considered a "beta" and continued the updates on a more regular basis, but I also look forward to the updated version when if arrives as well.

Yeah, "insane even by community standards"... I'll wear that one with pride. I take pride in my insanity... besides, what's the alternative? Normal? Normal is too busy watching "reality TV" and E!. Screw that.

I also prefer the UO tradition of handles for the Devs. Makes them more on a level with us where when I see a real name, I expect something a LOT more business-like and less friendly. It's also nice to hear from each of the devs and what they either want to do with the game or are doing with the game (although explanations on why a certain idea or feature isn't feasible would be nice as well for when "a promise gets broken")... also it tends to help in pumpkin hunting or gifts from Devs because the ones people are likely to seek are those of the Devs they know.

Jeremy's name is a mystery? Sounds like 'Preacher' is made up. Dalberg is correct?

It *is* a bit of a mystery. I thought that she had said "Jeremy" was her middle name but in this article she seems to imply that a friend pulled it from thin air. Maybe I just assumed it was her middle name.

I dunno, it's not a big deal really, I just thought it was funny.

Dermott of LS, I agree with what most of what you say, I suppose.
Except I always thought it was spelled out pretty clearly to us, especially to the UHall, that KR was a premature release that had to do with a Japanese SKU. What was that dudes name that said as much... Walt Yarbrough, I think.
I especially agree with keeping the names out, unless they choose to be called by their name. But hey, maybe it is more rewarding to be cursed out, or worse, by your real name rather than donning an alter-ego fantasy name to support the spirit of the game (& while keeping it fairly easy to find your real name if anyone truly wanted to know aka game credits).

E, J, D, P: whatever you want it to be, makes no matter to me, take care and all the best for ya'!

UO is eternal - after two cross-country moves and god only knows how many development teams, it just rolls with the punches.

this speaks to the core of the problem...

UO players are gullible, we keep paying for the product, yet it never gets much better.

it really speaks more to what UO was in the past than what it is now. any person working on UO needs to realize that.

she seemed to allude to this vaguely.
