Interesting observation of Nightmares on EC client

I have a rather large collection of 1998-2000 tamed nightmares(8+). Tonight it was noticed they look totally different in EC than any of the other nightmares, with a midnight bluish cast.
Has anyone else noticed this and do we know at what point they changed colors?

Left: 1998 tamed nightmare
Right: Dread War Horse
Top: 2002 tamed nightmare (all nightmares tamed since then appear like that in EC)
Bottom: New Hue Nightmare

I just can't get past the fact that they look like Shetland Ponies in the EC....but someone did point out not long ago that there was a difference in the old vs. new mares in the EC though I don't see it, and all of the new mares look the same in the EC.

So I don't think it's a recent change, just no one ever looked THAT closely before.

They do somewhat look like ponies with red eyes....

And I was not aware that the old ones looked that way... I wasn't around in 98 to get one.... I know all my old nightmares look like the top one... sad...

The new mares just look fuzzy...
