Cornmeal, by itself, is not a pretty thing. The texture is gritty and it's tasteless. Hardly digestible really. But when you put it in a casserole, it absorbs the best qualities of the other ingredients. It fluffs up and becomes a support system for the meal. Gillian was very much cornmeal in Thom's dish of life. Yes, she brought her own things to their married meal. But it was because of their mix it worked... she worked.

She watched from the counter as he poured over his notes, looking at the details of his research with a sharp eye. Periodically he would bounce a sentence into the air and let it hang a moment, his head still glued to his work. Xavier would gurgle a comment from his play area as he had been doing recently and she would smile. Thom would almost seem to answer back in understanding. Like Father, Like Son. Their bond grew with each passing day. She put her hand to her own stomach, wrapping it over the newest life they had created. Would this one be as in tune with it's Daddy? Another laugh escaped her shaking Thom from his revelry and forcing him to look up at her. She answered with a head shake to signal it was nothing and he went back to his work.

"Tap, Tap, Tap"

She came around and opened the window to the Seagull on the sill. Attached to its neck was a parchment bearing a pale purple was seal. Carefully she opened it.

"Governor Thom Gryphon,

There have been a number of visitors to our city as of late. Two in particular. The first was a monk from Empath Abbey. When questioned he stated you would know who he was. Second, was a young woman who simply asked where you might be found. She was informed that a message would be sent. She advised she will be in the city for the next week and will seek you out at your office.

Sincerely,

A herald of Trinsic"

Gillian furrowed her brow and turned, setting the scroll next to Thom's papers. "This just came for you."
