There is, I think it was a seer(maybe) who lost a friend irl and put that item there, theres more story to it, i just dont remember it all atm

Yes, it is a memorial, but EA has stated that as a matter of policy, they can't make any in-game memorials with actual player names, lest they be accused of bias, so they made a generic one.

I was out exploring, and I saw that. Very interesting!

Almost sad... what happens when these servers go down for good? Is everything unique to a particular shard gonna go down in flames?

I think that was for the Seer 'Elsebeth' (sp?) she used to engrave rings for folk getting hitched in game when it was a popular thing to do, and would come to the weddings. She came to one of mine in 2000 (I did it twice) when I had a char called Tamara.

Anyway, from what I remember, she was in a car accident and died so the other seers placed that for her, she was the most helpful 'helper' I ever came across. This was back when we actually had seers and counsellors in the game.
