I've thought of this for a while. When Vet Reward Robes and Cloaks first came out, they gave +2AR, which before AOS, AR values did not exist at all on clothes and it was a neat bonus. When AOS came out, this was boosted to the current +3 Physical Resist for a total of 6% Physical with a full set. At the time of AOS's launch, this was described by the devs as "An impressive bonus" due to clothing not being designed to have stats at all normally under the AOS system.
Fast forward a decade, and now we have all sorts of items with stats that were never intended to have stats, like robes, cloaks, sashes, belts, boots etc. As a result the once "Impressive" vet reward clothing has fallen behind and is no longer something seriously worth taking as a reward pick.
I would like to see Vet Reward Robes and Cloaks looked over and possibly given some small improvements. I was thinking it would be cool if the were changed to give +5 of a stat of the player's choice. You could single click a context menu on the robe and cloak and select the mod you want, only one mod per item at a time and this can be changed any time the player likes at will through the menu. Selections would include resists, SDI, HCI, DCI, LRC, LMC, etc. just about anything at 5%.
Will this impact current items with stats? Yes most likely, namely some replica robes with +5 resists. There would still be better items than vet rewards out there like the Conjurer's Garb and it's Blackthorn copies and those robes with HCI, DCI and SDI on a single item. But the idea is to make Vet Reward Robes and Cloaks actually competitive in todays UO.
Also, I would like to see dye able Vet Robes and Cloaks released that can be dyed with any dye including Tokuno style dyes.
