Imprisoned Dog From Crystal

Hello everyone I just got an imprisoned dog and summoned it. Now i just have a few questions for some people who have had these before.

#1. I lore the dog and it says it eats meat preferred but i cant feed it any meat?!?!... Does this have to be raw meat , and not human edible food?... Or is it not eating the meat because it is morphed into something else?...I cant figure it out, i can feed my albino squrrels fruit though..?

#2. Ointments....Where can i find these and do they permanently boost the stats?..Only way to train up stats?... People talk about 250-350 strenght on these imp pets is normal, or good?!?! My dog has about 45 strength and i got two squirrels and same thing, about like 45 strength and minimal hit points..I read you get the ointments in fel... is this true?...If so, what can i fight there to get them fairly easy without getting sloshed by reds?..

I love those dogs. I have one on my thief and I just stealth around with it following me in Luna. I re-named it to "a mysterious stranger" and it never fails to confuse some people, hehe.

Anyways, I don't know about 2, but here is for 1:

It just doesn't eat at all. At least not that I've found. Since it already starts as bonded I don't think there is anything to worry about. I have had my dog with me for a quite a while now and no problems. Also keep in mind sometimes it takes a while to morph.

hmmm okay thanks, thought something might be wrong lol. I was worried because I read the page on Imp Pets in stratics or uo guide and it says , yeah they insta-bond, but it says you still gotta feed them to keep them happy or else they can ..'poof'...?!..... so as long as yours havent vanished, im hoping its going to be ok...
and about #2 i have a page i am reading talks about the ointments a bit more thoroughly, i just dont understand it really, i would post a link , but i am not sure if i can do that..i can probly say this, its a page on 'ointments', within a UO Wiki site....... but yea, just wanna know more so i dont go bogging around red country fighting skeletons, when the ointments drop from elementals in shame haha.....cuz i dont have a fully trained character yet, so i wanna be safe hahaha. Uhhhh, sorry you must of made your post while i was writing mine Sevin, thank you.. Soo is it all creatures in fel that drop the ointment?... and when you get the ointment, you mix it with one of the ingredients in the list to get the result you want?.Thanks

They can also be stolen from a monster that is part of any Champ Spawn also. Tram ruleset also on that.

Ahhh, ok thanks, although i dont have a thief..... I'm down in despise in fel and ive killed about 15 ogre lords, and a bunch of cyclpoean warriors,.... still nothin yet...is this just something that is rarely dropped?.. Or am i doing something wrong?... like maybe it doesnt drop in the original 6 dungeons or something?

They can only be obtained via stealing.

Ooooh yeah! Those balms! I don't steal from monsters much so I had forgotten. Yeah I think you may only get them stealing. However if I remember correctly those balms are not permanent and only temporary.

Now the question will be, for testing, is if after morphing do they keep the effect?

On another note, if anyone has anymore information regarding feeding these things please share. Because regardless of my experience I am still wondering about it too.

Never tried feeding one of the imprisoned dogs, but for other creatures that don't eat (like skittering hoppers) I do know you can bond them by feeding them 'tasty treats'. I'd guess they may also work like 'food' for improving pet loyalty, but can't test that at the moment

Yep I've got a dog too and they wont eat. Doesnt seem to matter tho.
As for hit points and strength (and all other stats) for ALL minor pets it is possible to train them and you can usually get all these to 125. This is of course permanent.

If the pet you are going to train has VERY low hit points (i.e. just 2 or 3) a useful tip is simply to train them in spell resistance. As their skill increases they will gain in stats. Once they have a few more hit points you can start fighting them and they will again slowly gain stats. As I have said in most cases these stats will all continue rising till they hit 125, in some cases, no idea why, a specific stat will reach a point and stick.

I have a couple of rabbits, a squirrel, a dog and a greater chicken all of which are fully trained with most points at 125.

Dont know anything about the ointments never used them.

He's probably thinking about the Tasty Treats and Vial of Armor Essence. When fed to a pet, those can temporarily increase it's Stats/Resists/Damage.
The Balms can be stolen from any champ spawn creature (Fel, Ilsh or Tokuno) by a GM+ Thief, and have a duration on their buff, but i don't think they work on pets, only players.
In order to increase a weak pet's Stats, just walk around with it in Old Haven, command it to attack a Spectral Spellbinder, then immediately tell the pet to follow you. Keep doing this until you have like 8-10 Spectral Spellbinders following your pet around like a train, but don't let them melee the pet. The pet will quickly go up to GM Resist from this, and once he hits GM Resist, his stats will begin to gain rapidly, up to 125 permanently. This works with any kind of pet.

It's any dungeon creature I believe, not restricted to champ spawns. I use to steal them from evil mage lords.

You can steal from any creature anywhere, but the balms and lotions can only be gotten from Champion spawns or Felucca dungeons:

To the best of my knowledge they can not be fed to pets.
