Imbuing? Where does that leave all the items from before ?

I've been playing for years on and off, but always with same account and house. So my account is totally filled to the max because i never took the time to go through anything.

I have a lot of magical items I've picked up from monsters and idocs. None of them are horrible(at least i don't think they are), but i don't know how to tell the good from the great.

I wanted to know how do you tell whats worth keeping since the imbuing system came out? Can everything be made with imbuing?

I used unraveling on them at 40.0 and only came out with 150 magical residue. I still have about 200-??? mostly jewelry, armor, etc. Should i just train up my imbuing and unravel them all? Honestly, I'd rather sell them, but may take a while to figure out accurate prices.

Anyone have any recommendations?

You have to be in the mid-40s to get Enchanted Essence. And Relic Fragments don't show up until about twice that.

Some jewelry is really good for imbuing. Stuff that already has desirable properties on it, with no other undesirables other than skills (as skills can be changed to a different skill in the same group).

Weapons/Armor past a certain age can only be imbued if it's regular Iron/leather/cloth/wood, though most stuff made/looted in 2010 will be imbuable, if enhanced already.

With such gear, it's best to find stuff that has no unwanted properties to use as a base (Spined and horned kits, and low-end hammers, are great for making these from scratch). For Armor resists, you take pieces with high resist in some resists, and near-minimum resist in others, then imbue those low resists.

Hail fellow hoarder and available storage 0 friend,

Just yesterday I was at zero storage in two of my houses...again. Here are thoughts on what to unravel and save. First of all if you have any old earrings with properties, armor or weapons from the original system you should still hoard those.

Jewelry:
Property 1a: LMC 8
Property 1b: FC 2, FCR 3
Property 1c: DCI 15, HCI 15

If the item has one of the properties with no other properties then save it. You can also save any piece with those main properties and any level of desirable property. This is how you save starting jewelry.

Any five property jewelry should only be unraveled at the queens forge, ideally by a Gargoyle, and with a character above 95 to get a relic fragment. Most five property jewelry not max should be unraveled since it will have properties that don't make a perfect suit.

You can get gains and if something would be a relic and your skill is not high enough then it will tell you. This means you can unravel everything without concern you are doing it too early in your imbuing skill gain. When unraveling use a character you want to gain skill, but any character with 0 skill in imbuing can unravel basic items.

Armor:
Most armor is not worth saving unless it has LMC 8, or Stamina 8 and mana 8 and then only without undesirable properties for some character class and about four resists that are fairly high. I unravel all reflect, mage, and any that are not maxed otherwise I make new items.

Shields,
Save any shields with HCI any amount, DCI that is high or ones with FC. All other shields can be made with minor ingredients.

Weapons:
Save any weapons with 100% damage other than physical. You can still horde those magic wands, but I wouldn't go over 125.

Save weapons with 25 to 30 SSI, ranged weapon with balanced, high velocity, Hit Lightning and Hit Magic Arrow, slayers: Arachnid, Demon, elemental, Repond, reptile, undead, dragon and no undesirable property like spell channeling or FC or mage weapon or resist. All slayers take 10 white pearl so you will have to use your best judgment if a slayer would be desirable with the other properties.
