Imbuing Order?

I apologize for all the questions recently and I swear I do as much searching beforehand in order to find an answer.

Couple more questions:

1. So how do you know which order to imbue certain mods onto an item? For example if I want a pair of leggings with 8% LMC, 20% LRC, 2 Mana Reg, and extra high Fire and Poison Resist. What is the process for making such a piece and in what order do you do everything, and how do you know that order?

2. I've read about dropping an existing mod on an item down to the lowest possible, then adding other mods, and then bringing the original mod back up to an increased level. An example from another post where someone was asking about making a certain ring said something to the effect of "you have a ring with 10% DI, but want 20% along with 15% HCI. First imbue the DI to 1%, etc, etc. What is the point of doing that?

3. I literally have tons of every type of ingot. Is there something I can make that I can unravel for residue and if so what would be the best bang for the buck, so to speak. I quit UO right around the time they made Arms Lore effect your items, so I'm currently working that by looking at an item over and over again, but if I could be making something to raise my Arms Lore and at the same time getting more residue by unraveling those items, win/win.

Sorry, just got SA a little over a week ago and still trying to figure it out.

Ps. The training guide is working great!!

Regarding:
1. You lose resources when fail to imbue when the success chance goes below 100%. Each time you increase the imbued weight of an item the chance goes toward 0%. The highest or most timely resource to obtain is relic fragments so we do those first so we can keep our stockpile. If they were so plentiful then no one would care about order. We work around the developers limitations by nature.
2. You only decrease mods that require cheap resources like magical residue. You wouldn't lower SSI for instance since you would consume extra relic fragments. It is because of answer 1.
3. I'll let Basara look for you...

If you are making residue - best thing to unravel is any weapon made from oak wood. Try making bokuto's out of oak. 6boards each and you get magical residue. Oak wood far cheaper and easier to get than any ore.

For Residue, the lowest and easiest ingredient, the best way to get it is to fight stuff, loot everything with a property, then take it to the Ter Mur Royal City and unravel it all.

I think they put safeguards in that treat many items crafted with normal tools out of special materials typically don't unravel. IF you can get them to unravel, Daggers made of anything that adds properties other than elemental damage would be good choices - DC, Shadow & Gold (test 1 of each before you commit). I think the carpenter crafting tool "Hammer" might still be bugged to have weapon properties, but not be equippable (or the bug might be that it's not equippable). Either way, it might be a cheaper thing to make with a tinker out of the same materials as suggested for the smith.
Similarly, if anything made with special materials has a chance to unravel, it might be stuff made with spined, but I think the 40 luck might still be too low intensity to give residue - make a spined leather cap to test it.
For wood items, try wooden shields or weapons (carpenters) and bows (fletchers). Oak wood would probably be best for weapons, in terms of costs. Oak or ash might work for shields.

1. Ok, I'm guessing that the degree of difficulty in imbuing a mod increases as the weight increases towards 500?

2. So the reason you decrease a mod, is so you can imbue the more expensive reasource mods first, OK that makes sense.

3. I've been doing gold daggers. 90 daggers = 210-225 residue. For some reason I have over 100,000 of almost every ingot.

1. Yes.

2. Yes.
Generally speaking the order of imbuing doesn't matter. It affects only amount of ingredients you spend. (But people prefer to spend [10 relics + 50 residues] than [50 relics + 10 residues] :) )

3.
I think you can easily trade 10k gold ingots for 100k oak boards. If you haven't carpenter/fletcher you can trade 10k gold ingots for 50k dull copper ingots.
I think you can get GM Arms Lore crafting bokutos/bows/daggers. Crafting any item with exceptional (resists or damage) bonus trains your Arms Lore.
