I'm back, I won't be on as much as I used to be, but I have returned. Lots of free time since I nearly died a few weeks back.

I am glad you have returned. Not glad that you nearly died, but glad that you made it through.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's itching to hear about your plight...

Well, an update, I'm feeling back at 100% again! The doctors think I'm anemic now, I have an iron deficiency and I can't eat red meat anymore, but otherwise I'm feeling back to normal, if only a bit tired at times, but the anemia explains that.

Well dang !! Glad ye survived liver failure etc.
What set that off ? Not that it is mine or anyone's business.
Just that liver failure is pretty serious stuff.

Hrmm red meat oft is part of the cure for anemia and you can't eat any. :(

Sweet potatos & squashes might be good though maybe, they full of goodies.

Well hope ye keep on doing ok and well and get even weller.

They don't know what set it off, they tested me for a LOT of liver diseases, everything came up negative. I'm on iron pills for now to help out the anemia/iron deficiency. I hear spinach has a lot of iron in it, and I love the stuff so I'll just eat spinach salads nightly :p

Spinach is good, but here's a tip for getting the most out of it: The iron in spinach is more easily absorbed by the body if it is briefly cooked. Still enjoy the salads, but try to fit in some nice steamed spinach into the diet, too. :)

Eww, cooked spinach. I'm already on some hardcore iron pill, so that should help a lot by itself.

Yeh the iron pills do work. Had to take em once my self when I got anemic, somewhere in me youth, far back, in the day. :)

Cooked spinach is ok, but most over cook it to death. Eww yuk.

Actually the entire spinach/cabbage/broccoli family works for iron too,
forgot about all them,
spinach, collard greens, brussel sprouts etc. etc. make great stir fry too, if lightly cooked.
Some folks cook em to death til they green goo slush ! LOL

We were at a mexican resturant other day, a fine dining resturant.
Sooo I ordered the combo burritos and one was full of green goo, that one burrito was way overcooked YUK. Could not eat it at all.

Broccoli cabbage can be eaten raw too, so lots of variety, with any of them.

Any Brassica left should help out with iron. That being said if you don't eat your greens iron absorption is so reduced so eat your greens. Have they checked for chemical damage? I know a few people that had terrible reactions to over the counter pain meds even at small doses.

I don't think I've taken over the counter pain meds... and to be honest it's probably somehow related to the cystic fibrosis, it seems to cause everything.

Yes CF could cause it. Whats important is that your doing better. Have you been told what your numbers are at now?

Probably, but I don't keep track of that stuff since they don't need me to. I figure if they say I'm alright, I'm alright. If I feel weird, I call/go in.
