Illegal Barbed Kits.. Confirmed by GM?

On a lot of shards there is a vendor somewhere in Luna named "BKIT 2.X", with '2.X' being a different number specifying the cost of the item. This cost varies on each server.

Well, on Great Lakes, there is a vendor named BKIT 2.0 at Genesis' West Luna house. This vendor is right on the steps underneath the house sign. I noticed the vendor is selling multiple Barbed Runic kits at 2,000,000gp each, and each kit is stacked on top of another in the top left of the vendor's pack. Also, this vendor constantly has a stock of about 10 barbed kits.

Suspicious, I paged a GM and asked if a GM could do some sort of a check on the kits to make sure they are legal before I purchased any, and that with the recent bannings I wasn't taking any chances at all.

I received a GM response that read:

"The item(s) you are inquiring about are not support by Game Masters at this time. These items however are subject to change, and are not officially deemed legal by the development team. The development team may at anytime remove or alter the item(s) or any item(s) in game without prior warning to the community if deemed necessary. Please know that ownership of the item(s) is at your own risk. Thank you for your support and cooperation."

This sounds to me like the GM noticed they were illegally created and was basically telling me not to buy them in an indirect way. If I'd reported a completely legal Barbed Kit then I don't think I'd get this type of response.

Has anyone had experience with this in the past? I'm seriously afraid to buy anything now in Luna that comes from a BOD.

That's what I'm wondering. I don't really know what the page means.. Is the GM telling me they are illegal, or is that a "canned" response for a report on 'any' item basically saying that EA doesn't officially support any particular item(s)? I just checked the vendor again and the Kits are still in stock.

I also reported the 'BKIT 2.X' vendors to be looked into about 8 days ago using a contact form on EA.com but haven't heard anything. The vendors all still exist and are being stocked daily.. Still very fishy though.

I reported one of those vendors. He sold over 50 barbed kits in one weekend and Restocked them as fast as they were taken off. I even got screen shots of the vendor being empty and within minutes they were restocked with 5 more. The strange part is, I stood there the whole time it was empty. I was hidden right by it so they wouldnt see me. And the vendor got restocked without anyone actually coming to do it. So he either has a script restocking it or he is invis when he does it.
I sent all of the screen shots and reported him. That was over 2 weeks ago and he is still selling them.

that post to me does sound like a way of saying they are dupes... and as it says... the "development team" said that so yea, they aint gonna tell ya how they can check whats legal and not im sure there's somethin "item id's or somethin they can look at. and for the guy that was seein the vendor being stocked and emptied, that is wierd you didnt see anyone stockin it, cause i do believe any time you move a item at all you would appear. like takin a item off a corpse.

This has been my second issue with this whole banning mess. They banned all these people...apparently not all of them or not all of the right ones...yet they left their vendors standing with all their stock to be sold, so is this EA in a round about way saying that these dupes are now legal?. Bkit2.0 vendors tell me one of two things either there is still an active dupe or there are stashes of possibly hundreds of Runic kits on the larger/busier shards that the Devs "missed". Which leads me again to the conclusion that the most recent bannings were not handled very well at all. I am very much against dupes, but for all of you people that just simply say Yay EA banned people they were all guilty it is a good thing, you are not really looking at the larger picture. Unfortunately I believe that more dupers survived the bannings than didn't. I'm out.

I doubt barbed kits are widely duped - why not duping the 1mil checks since the kits are selling for 2mil + the hassle to sell them?

I am pretty sure most of the barb kits are from bod scripting. Barbed kits have been sold for less than 3mil for more than a year now. When you see ppl offerring 3k each for the clothing bods, you can be pretty sure he/she is a scripter. Why? The barbed LBOD comes at roughly every 500 bod pulls. At 3k each, that will be 1.5mil just for the clothing bods. I can't imagine anyone will spend at least 6-7 hours to fill and turn in the 500 bods by hand, plus more time and gold for the sBODs and resources, plus more effort to sell the items, just to make 500k gold. Only automated bots can make it profitable, just like those gold farming bots.

Too bad dev hasn't found effective way to stop BOD scripting. An idea that I heard a while back sounds pretty good: high end bods can only be obtained by turning in leather bods plus the free fulls every 6 hours.

I stock my vendors all the time while hidden so Im not in the way of shoppers and so no one talks to me and disturbs me. Also we have one of these vendors on LA too and its the same , always in top left corner and restocked almost as fast as they are sold.

Strange, that even though the GM's response seemed to find the objects as questionable, they were not deleted, but left on the vendors. Also strange the vendors remain, and none of the house owners seem too worried about their properties going up in flames with traitor effigies stuck in the landscape. Why bother to do only a part of the landscape cleanup, and leave dubious items for more unsuspecting shoppers to propogate more harm to our community, and possibly risking more subscriptions to the ban stick?

A scripter can also run more than one computer. Splitting the tasks up between them and coordinating them could make a large operation very efficient.

I would interpret the GM answer to be a canned response to any user asking to verify if an item is dupped. The GM likely simply pasted that text in the box and closed the call without every actually checking the vendor or items.

The barbed kits are harder to come by than many ppl think. The Small bods are quite common (e.g. 1 in 25, like you said) but the Large BODs are not (1 in 500). The rarity of the kits is approximately equivalant to gold-agapite runic hammer. Without scripting, their fair value should be around 4-5mil. Counting in the mass gold influx into the game, their value should be even higher.

It is scripting that makes them so common.

The coding is different for looting corpses than for stocking vendors. I also frequently stock my vendors while hidden.

The GM did not confirm that they were legal or illegal. The translation is:

These items are under investigation. Being that we have not determined if they are legal or not, purchase them at your own risk. If you purchase one and use it you are fine. If you purchase a bunch of them and store them and we find out they are illegal, they will be deleted and/or action may be taken against your account depending on how many you have.

This is the same thing that just happened so buyer beware.

Have you even owned a vendor before? If not and you want to know the facts, I'd suggest buying a vendor contract, employing it at your house (assuming you own a house and have the minute amount of cash to buy a contract or you can rent a space for 10-20k) and play with it and see for yourself then you can make an educated assumption not to mention you might make some good gps!! Money! I thought being a merchant was going to be boring but man was I wrong. You might like it too Smokey.

I know for a fact you can hide and stock a vendor because I do it all the time to avoid getting in my customer's way just like Az does. He has so much traffic he'd never get anything done if he was visible. Hehe. Send some business up my way man! Stocking a vendor is nothing like being in stealth mode and looting a corpse where you become visible as soon as you loot.

As far as the duping crud goes, I hope they catch and hang the jerks messing with the economy and making it where we have to page GM's to see if it's safe to buy an item or not. That's nothing but an irresponsible shame on customer supports behalf. Just delete the flippin suspected vendors if EA knows who they are and get it done and over with all frickin ready. Quit dragging things out. My patience rarely wears thin but this is getting on my last nerve.



I don't know what's safe to buy and what's not safe to buy anymore. I saw vendors on Atl the other night still selling high end hammers. I don't mean a couple I mean several on the same vendor after the bans. I only buy from people I have bought off of for years now if I buy at all and I sure don't buy runics.

A list of things would be nice to have of safe items not easily duped. The only trouble with that would be it'd give the dupers some new targets to dupe perhaps.

Well, it is 4:06 pm and the same Luna vendor just restocked 5 more kits on that vendor. That will be 55 barbed kits I have seen that vendor sale in just over a week. Thats not counting the ones I didnt see him sale. I dont care how much or how many bod runs you do. There is no way to get 55 barbed kits in just a week.
