If you have purchased an account in the past from another player, and have not used the official account transfer process to do so, your account is vulnerable to being stolen back by it's original owner. It does not matter if the account is active or inactive, all the original owner needs to do is provide the original game account key, and they can have their account returned to them.
This has been happening to a lot of people in the past few months.
You can defend yourself by going to the new account management and creating a new EA master account and linking all your accounts to that master account - again, it does not matter if they are active or inactive.
If you know anyone who is inactive at this time, but would still not want to lose their account(s), and they have in the past purchased an account that was not transferred using the official transfer process, you should contact them and get them to do the above immediately.
