Read the ToS. We don't actually own our characters or any pixels they have. If EA pulled the plug on UO, all I think they have to do is give us 6 months notice. Been some years since I read the thing, but I imagine they kept themselves clear of any grounds for a lawsuit they might lose.

I haven't ever seen a need to go play another game but if they closed shop I might. I would not worry about getting a refund and I do pay 6 months at a time. I am just thankful for being able to play up to this point.

No ... it is in the Terms of Service agreement you implicitly agree to each time you log in. It essentially states they can shut it all down and we are hosed. Period.

Sections 5c & 9 cover the situation most specifically.

I to wouldn't be to shook up if EA announced the end of UO. The game got trashed at AoS, High Seas was a sick joke, and whats apparently coming soon doesn't sound worth a thing. I'll just move on to another game, or retire from online gaming if they mercy kill this game <shrug>.

I dont think you could sue. If they did end UO I would be happy, as it is I rarely log in anymore. I just cant bring myself to quit paying my monthly dues. But I can see the end of the tunnel coming up fast. I do keep wishing they would come out with UO2 instead of messing around with this one. Oh well, like my wife always tells me, I will always be a dreamer.

IMHO the best thing that could happen to the Ultima franchise would be UOs death. In EA`s eyes, Ultima is not a big money maker. As long as they can get something out of UO, it will stay as it is. If you want something big and new in the Ultima world, UO has to die first.
