Jeremy said,
The fact of being able to make money off the vendors wasn't an exploit in itself - there was a related exploit, however, which required an immediate fix.

As I said in another post, why was the offending items not removed from the NPC's inventory. How many of the same item do you need to sell.

It gives no benefit from color or textures, as the leather, wood, or ore does.

It is not craftable, as far as I know, from any other raw materials that make the other type of item, that is sold by their counterpart.

So why have a redundant item,of multiple textures sold by another NPC, that give no other benenefit except to create an exploit.

Why ruin a viable Trading Skill/Play Style, rather that just recode one group of NPC's.

Just my 2gp

Sounds like she's talking about cloth. You can buy various shades and patterns of bolts and different cuts of cloth off of the tailors, she's asking why can't the tailors just sell one kind of bolt and one kind of cut cloth and set an amount. It's not THAT hard to go sheer sheep or pick cotton to make cloth, so that might be an idea is to either take cloth off the npc tailors all together or set an amount per day?? Same thing with ingots.

You are way off target with this post.
The exploit with the vendors that was fixed but not in the notes was an issue in Doom with that vendor.

The fix did the job it shut the window on that exploit.

If I am wrong I am sure someone will straighten me out.

The sell prices in Doom were allowing players to make money instead of being a gold sink.

Don't you know all crafters are female and all fighters are male?

and larisa, if they set an amount per day they would have to do some kind of scattering and random appearance, because then all that would happen is stealthers with a beetle would just sit there and figure out time and only certain people would be able to even get any. Don't set 'amount per day' set 'amount per player.' or just don't have ingots or cloth for sale. and they darn well have the capability of just making each account only able to buy so much a day. they can just have the npc's say "there is a limit per buyer we want all our customers to be able to get this wonderful item." or some such. that would be much fairer, and even if someone had multiple accounts, they are paying cash for that priviledge so its fair.

I don't think it was related to that. Of course some people could make money by selling bolts or arrows, but it was possible because the prices were raised by people buying bolts or arrows. So no gold was created, it just changed hands
