If I were to reinstall...

Ok, here's the thing, on my laptop my UO is installed from a 9th anniversary disc, and in my skill list the skills are further broken down into sections by type. I get groups named something like wilderness, thieving, magic, crafting, bardic. Something along those lines. My desktop has had UO installed on it for something like 6 (or more) years now, from an old (possibly AOS) disc. If I were to reinstall UO to get these new menus, would I be able to copy my data folder and replace it to get my macro's back or would this overwrite the breakdown in the skill list? I know it's a stupid reason to re-install, but I really find it much easier to find the skills I'm looking for with the list sorted like that. But I don't want to go through re-installing everything, and re-patching only to find out that when I replace the folder to restore my macro's I also just replaced the skill list to the older one with only 4 sections.

You could always... re-organize your list.

In your skill list gump, there's a "New group" or similar button at the bottom. Click it. Click on the group that appears, twice. Type in the name you want it to have. Click and drag the skills you want from higher in the list, into this new section.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're doing.

Or, just copy the character profiles from your laptop to the desktop.

After backing them up of course.

Aye, copy all the .mul files out of the character profiles in my documents from your laptop to your desktop. You will get the updated skillgroups.
