IDOC bug

This morning, a guildmate and I were camping an IDOC; he was watching two; this one (in Trammel), and another (in Malas). He would occasionally open a gate, check the other IDOC, and come back.

Problem was, when the house we were in (public) fell, he was teleported to the OTHER idoc, his bonded beetle and unbonded packies vanished completely (after several logs, the bonded beetle still has not been found.)

Now, I suspect what happened is that when the house fell, he dropped to the ground, and would have landed on top of a chest or something, and this was a safety feature to prevent duping/getting stuck/whatever. It then teleported him to the last legal place he stood, which was unfortunately on a completely different facet.

Aside from the obvious annoyance of waiting over six hours only to miss out because of a bug, I think that the loss of the bonded pet is more concerning.

Has anyone else experienced something similar, or heard of this?

unfortunatly this is a known bug about having pets in a idoc, the idoc somehow eats them when they fall

Has he checked the stables?

Though the creatures won't be there if they were loaded.

It's typically a good idea to link pets to pet balls if you really want them to be safe.

Anyway, it's a bad idea to have pets in a house that's about to fall. Wait outside.

Ya, never have your pets in a idoc above the first floor, your pets will disapear :( It's been like that for years.

Not only is this an old, old, known bug, still ,at idocs with a few people there, there are ALWAYS people inside with dismounted pets. If you try to tell them what could happen they think you are trying to con them somehow so I dont bother anymore.

I had the same thing happen..with a fully loaded bug from a idoc..AFTER the house fell...thing is .The bug was friended to my toon..I called mine..of course that one followed..I went thru a gate..the friended bug didnt ..or did..im not sure..but it was *poof* gone..I recalled straight back as soon as I came out of gate..searched for about 15 min..usually I find them if they go awol..but this beetle was not to be found. So lesson learned..never call a friended packie thru a gate..lost alot of good items that day

The bug you speak of has not been fixed for years, its very rare that it occurs though. I have seen more than just simply losing a packy to a house. I watched someone die at one, when the house dropped and someone placed on them. That was hilarious. It is best to stay on your beetle until after the house drops. Beetles seem to be more affected by the bug than regular pack horses or llamas. I'm not quite sure of the difference between the 2 in this instance, but that is what I have witnessed more in terms of being lost by an IDOC.

Yeah, I'm glad I know about this now; I've done several in-house idocs like this with my beetle, and haven't had a problem; I'm lucky it wasn't me (I was not mounted on my beetle at the time, either), and my beetle is about half-trained. I'm quite attached to him, I've had him since around 2003.

Thanks for the info.
