Idiot Abroad in Sonoma

My 172 month acct had alot of vet gifts to choose, I needed cash badly and decided to use them. My picks were less than wise!! I picked around 10 soul stones and later found out that they are acct bound(DOH!!) This acct has 1 toon so the stones are worthless to me basically. My hope is that a moderator or a player knows of a direct contact to someone with the authority to help me reverse this. I know that my chances are low that I can get this done, but I know it can be done from experience with as severe problems with gms over the last 14 years. Any advice or help is appreciated......The title allready suggests I was an idiot so no reminders... :>)

I did something similar a while back, but not with 10. Claimed a few soul stones and found out later I could buy them for $10 at the store. I wasn't trying to sell them like the OP though. I needed the stones, but I would have bought stones and used rewards for an ore cart or something else.

Soulstones are hardly worthless for one character accounts... Siege (with only one character slot) probably uses more soulstones per account than any other shard.

Situations like this provide the perfect example of why we should have a vet reward turn in box... Like the robe and cloak swaps. What would be the harm in letting players turn in old vet rewards and getting a new pick from the same year or lower rewards? 1 to 1 ratio, so the number of rewards doesn't change and you can't turn in a 1st year dye tub and get a shard shield... They don't even need to add the item back to the rewards gump, just do an instant swap.

Just a thought... Maybe a question for the ask an answer.. Would the Devs consider this?

I'm not a dev, but in my opinion that would make the Vet Rewards hugely less special.

If my tone was sharp, it's because this is silly.

If this guy played as long as he said, he certainly should realize what the limits of what a reasonable GM request would be. Even after one year of playing I learned that GMs will never ever change a gameplay mechanic into your favor (or at least they shouldnt) unless it is absolutely **positively** proven that it was a problem with the system itself, and even then they often won't help.

Paging a GM to fix a mistake you made by poor strategy (especially one you realize after the fact) is assnine. A near-since-beta vet should certainly know.

I suppose for me the value of claiming more would be to have more than one where needed... Like say an ethy for each character. I wonder though how many furniture dye tubs might get exchanged for a soulstone, or ethy swamp dragons for a portal... Again I say, adding the option for those that would use it shouldn't take away the option to retain those items that have sentimental value.

Gm's will sometimes help with things they do not have too. Recently a guild friend of mine was able to get a GM to move some old seer/GM placed items closer to his house, so they fitted with the plot better.

In this case I do not think anyone is going to help him out, but as I said before he wont know until he tries. If he had opened the post slating the Vet choice system, or blaming something else for his own mistake I could understand the flaming. However, he openly admitted his mistake and took responsibility for it, so what is the point in reminding him of it?

I this that it is situations like this- that should bring into account a few things.. "STOP & THINK " really for a while - then say mmmm
i can save my vet reward slot for the next item I want & may not have the money then to get- a lot of people just blue threw vet rewards
and have tons of tubs,cloak, robe Emount you name it etc soo all of these years you've worn the neatest vet robes, rode the coolest emounts, ..
and now .... now I hate to even hint at it... but you may not have,enough rewards to get what you want now since you used them up already

Well thanks for the info, I will e-mail messana, first I want to answer a few of the posts: I only have 1 charc because it was my first acct and I got my gm sword mage and found another acct that had a tamer on it and bought. I have used the tamer acct,which had a house since day 1. I allso do not want anything else to choose as I still have 3-4 rewards left on the acct and have rewards on a 168 month acct also. Like I said it is against odds but I have had other things reversed in this game, guild stone renamed and given back to me after someone else claimed it.... house locks changed and given back to me, and many more things in my 15 years yes all 15 the acct did go inactive a few times over the years. All I really was lookin for was Messana's e-mail so she could tell me no. I made a mistake and think there is the possibility that it can be reversed if not I will continue to play and be happy in my little corner of Sosaria.. Thanks Special Shoes for the mention of Karl!!!! That was idea in op as thats who I felt like when I did this.

While I agree, that this is something which usually not should be handled by GMs, I also agree with the fact, that we all are humans, humans make mistakes and deserve to get a chance to correct the mistake. At least in a game, which should mean enjoyment and not frustration.
In this context two other options should be reconsidered:
Make soulstones reusable by other accounts, as well as any other account bound item either directly or by purchasing a (cheap) token on EA store. This way a player with several 14 years old accounts could collect a full shard shield collection and use them with the intended account.
Also a swap box for veteran rewards or an token allowing to do so (same price as the one for resetting the account bound property) is an idea, I agree. Since the shard shields we have a new quality - it's not simply ONE reward any more, but you have to select one of xx shields. And what might be interesting in one year, may be useless 5 years later, while one of those new items may be much more interesting. Could be limited to one exchange per week or month or paid charge.
