I'd like to see it back... But have to admit, there were alot of self centered wanna be designers in there, they would say just about any BS remark knock your ideas no matter how off topic thier "point" was regarding the idea.
Was kinda hard to discuss any ideas without these meatheads essentially "flaming" you for putting forth an idea... One of the most annoying things were the few that would totally dress you down as "selfish" because you thought having such and such would be a good idea...

Though I do agree with what you have said, there are a couple of points that should out way it;
1. Even at it's worst it was still better than posting ideas here in the Uhall.
2. It would be the moderators responsibility to keep diligent by removing post that are off topic or just flaming. As well as keeping us inline to assure that we are continuing an existing topic and not constantly re posting virtually the same idea over and over.
3. Most importantly time and time again I have seen some great ideas come from the player base and it would be a shame for those ideas to be lost without a chance of being talked about, no matter what the chances are that it gets implemented. Besides let's face it, our Devs as great as they are are not likely to come up with every possible way of improving and evolving our game.

The Devs requested to Stratics that the types of things that got posted in Ideas Den be posted in U.Hall, instead. That way, more input for the good ones would be added (too many of the old ideas, even good ones, rarely got the discussion they deserved), and that would be one less forum for Devs to read.

What the Devs really want you to do with your ideas is submit them on a feedback form, using the link on UOHerald.
Yes but submitting them there is like sticking a letter in a bottle in the ocean in Peru and expecting someone in Iceland to care... and receive it.
First off.... how do you know that your idea was even read by a DEV?
Secondly... if it was a VERY good idea.... there surely isn't going to be any discussion about it... No one will ever know.
Like dropping a note in a bottomless pit... Makes no sound.
I'd rather post them somewhere public where other UO players can seem them and hopefully they agree that the ideas are GRAND and should be implemented... And then perhaps if the post gets enough views and people like the idea then you might feel like it might happen..... especially if a DEV actually posts something saying they like the idea... you don't even get a letter back from submitted ideas on the Herald.
armchair designers like feedback on their ideas ... and that's not really something the devs have time for.

Besides, posting them here and letting discussion run for a bit will typically weed out a lot of the bad ideas, and will usually result in the good ideas being refined to a point that when you DO submit it via the herald's feedback form, it has a better chance of being looked at.

The feedback form is ok if your idea has been properly hashed out. Someone could have an outstanding idea that could make the game alot better, but if they are poor at presenting it, it will get brushed aside.
