The last thing we need is more items that already exist and will take up lots of storage.
I was thinking more a clean up britannia system with with all previous "collectable" and mass-obtainable items being able to be handed in, each yielding different amounts of points.
You could then have three methods of hand in and reward, all based on the community collection system:
- One single NPC which generates decoration somewhere on the shard based on total points. All items (ophidian items, the most recent items, power and vanq items, etc) have a point amount attatched to it. On the upside, this makes it simple and easy, however all items will then have a relative, set value and, regardless of the item, the rewards will be the same no matter what you hand in.
- Multiple NPCs either in different towns or in the same place that will take items from different events (halloween candy collector , ophidian diplomat, the moonglow rift requisition officer, blackrock caretaker, whatever). The decoration, like community collections, will build up for each of the NPCs independantly and each will give different rewards. The upside of this is variation for rewards, although the next idea would provide a solution for the problem that still remains from the first idea.
- An item by item reward system. This could be incorporated into the previous idea but basically you could either have a reward pool for certain items or a system whereby each item gives a certain reward. Corrupted cloaks give one reward, original blackrock another. The problem here though is that stacks of items or rewards such as snake skins and rations will still give rewards without reducing numbers of original handins.
So my idea would be to have different NPCs like in Britain Library that will accept handins and give you points that you can use to choose different tiers of rewards. You can then either have a separate vendor that offers specific rewards for specific bigger/more valueable items or those items can be used for any of the other NPCs.
Rewards: This is a very item based system. So rewards should not be something we have already (no more artifacts and bod rewards!). Something you can either use up, easily store or will be able to use and actually want to have. Decorative rewards should be indicative of the occasion that marks what was handed in.
For a blackrock hand in station you could have 1 point for small blackrock, 2 for large and 10 for original pieces, with 500 for a pillar. The rewards can be items such as "an inert blackrock sculpture" all the way up to "an inert blackrock sculpture of <person who claimed it>" (like the statue that vets can choose, but in a blackrock colour).
For Ophidian stuff you could have items such as snakeskin shoes (really obvious) which may be in a random snake hue or a green hue or something and will give like a random set of resists totalling 5% (means everyone will use them, but shoes dont look so great really). Or large ophidian statues (gold, silver and bronze coloured ophidian graphics - really it would just be taking a still frame of the ophidians in the south and east facing directions and turning them into a graphic). How about for a really high end reward giving us a deed that we can use to place a giant serpant pillar?
Lots that could be done with this hand-in thing. Its long overdue, but that wait has accumulated a lot more items that can be used. This system could be extended to artifacts as well - any cursed artifact (obviously not worth as much) or any doom artifact - stealables artifacts - old weapons and armour - daily rares (fruit baskets, candles) - christmas and valentines gifts - bods you dont want even. The things that some of us want but most of us just have lying around because they seem valueable enough not to bin.
I don't expect much though. Just what I think could be done!
