Firstly, I'm at 103.0 Animal Taming (real skill), 110.0 Animal Lore, and 110.0 Veterinary. 85.0 Magery.

Does Animal Lore contribute to how difficult a tame chance is? If so, my idea was to use Soul Stones to house Veterinary and Animal Lore, so that taming would be more challanging. So that I could tame lower level creatures and still get gains.

Would this work? I may have a misconception about what Animal Lore actually contributes though, so please set me straight.

Also, I read the section on GGS: the lowest combined skill level it stated was something like 350.0 total points. Is there faster gains if you had say, a total of 200.0 or is it the same from 0.0 total skill points up to 350.0 total skill points?

Finally, I just came back to UO a couple days ago; I've been gone since 2004, so I have clearly missed quite a bit. Cu-Sidhe: are these hostile towards positive karma characters? An elf is the only one that can tame them, correct? Greater Dragons: the pet control calculator's link doesn't take me to a calculator. What is the required and the recommended Taming & Lore to effectivly control a greater dragon?

Thanks everyone.

p.s. I'm glad to be back!

First off, welcome back!

I can only help you with the question about the Cu Sidhe as I don't dabble too much with other pets.

The Cu is not hostile against positive karma characters, however when you attempt to tame them you will anger them and they will attack. They pack a very hard bite but with a little training you can lead tame them without any problem.

You are correct, Elf is the only ones that can tame Cu's. Humans can, however, mount and ride them if they are wearing the Pads of the Cu Sidhe.

Ok, it won't make any difference to your gains if you just have taming and soulstone your lore off. The only thing I've found that does make a difference is trying to keep my total skill points below 350 for as long as I could. I don't believe you'll get skill gains faster with 200 skill than you would 349, so if you can stay below 350, great. Don't worry about going below that though, I don't think you'll be any better off.

Cu sidhe aren't aggressive to positive karma players, however as Largan has said, they do still anger.

There's a calculator here that will help you figure out pet control etc. I'd recommend 110/110 skill to get 99% control of a greater.

there is a GSG table on stratics, someone might be able to link you

but basically you are guaranteed gains every period of time, but it depends on how many skill pts you have total, and the level of the skill

the more skills you can stone off your character, the more often you will receive the guaranteed gain
