Idea for the Developers or Event Moderators to Consider

I just thought to toss out an idea for the Dev's or EM's to offer the players something that is different than what we see in game. The idea is the "Gauntlet". I know this is far from being a new idea,but hear me out.

In many other games,console and MMO alike,we have been given side quests and "mini-games" within the game. One of the more popular,in my opinion,has been the gauntlet or a ladder-style tournament where your character would face harder and harder beasts as you progress up the rankings.

There would be different gauntlet types based on each of the major "species" in UO.

Elemental

Valorite Elemental (Gauntlet Champion)
Verite Elemental or a Rising Colossis
Agapite Elemental or a lesser Rising Colossis
Gold Elemental
Bronze Elemental
Copper Elemental
Shadow Iron Elemental
Dull Copper Elemental

If you make it through this gauntlet you earn a displayable title of "[Species] Gauntlet Champion",undetermined amount of gold and a good chance at a minor tok artie,a small chance at a major tok artie,and a tiny chance at a major artie.

Seems that the Stratics beastiary page is gone? Oh well. There's alot of other "species" that would be a great fit for a solo/small team gauntlet. Undead,Demon/Daemon,Humanoid,Spectral,Troll/Ogre,and Arachnid.

Also one Gauntlet I would like to see that would introduce a new character specificaly for the Gauntlet. "Zeus". He would be the champion of the "Mythic Gauntlet" This would be a plug for Mythic naturally,and would fit right in with Titans and Cyclops's that would be on the lower ranks of the tournament ladder.The ladder would look something like this.

That sounds like fun. It also sounds like the anti-virtue dungeons we already have, as far as monsters getting harder and harder as you go through... but still fun. Title, items :thumbup:

Just as long as the devs don't make it to complicated to... well, make. Everyone would probably be through it and bored with it in 2 weeks... maybe 2 months tops. No need to spend a lot of time on something like this. And that's good, because it doesn't seem like it would take a lot of time to do in the first place.

2 weeks to two months tops? Not with how I imagine it. This would not be your typical champion spawn. Lets take Hades and his Cerberus. I see that team comparable to a paragon ancient lich and one of those ancient hell hounds that was seen at halloween(I wish I was able to go against one of those things!!). This is not something that people could just roll right through with little effort. It would have a name "Gauntlet" for good reason.

Edit: Perhaps add rules that slayers do not work against any of the beasts. That way there will not be 300-400 hp damage attacks.This would make the player think about what s/he is doing instead of mindlessly spamming spells/bushido attacks.

I don't get how this is different than a champ spawn.
In a champ spawn you have to run around in an area killing low level spawn to make the higher spawn show up. In my idea,you would be on a "stage" much like what you see in some console/MMO's. Some of the final fantasy games come to mind. You enter a room(or whatever) and speak with an NPC that oversees the battles. You choose which gauntlet you want to fight in and you are directed to a large room that will spawn the gauntlet.Perhaps this room will be about the size of the arena near Haven.

Best example I can find that comes close to what I mean is here. You walk up the npc and say you want to fight. He asks you which gauntlet,and a gump comes up and you choose and then you/your team is teleported to a room.

A rare ore only will be rough solo. Shadow Eli is magic and pet/summon immune. As far as ranking the Copper Eli (reflect damage) be second and Bronze Eli (steam blast) third. The Gold Eli forth (large HP total). The Valorite Eli is top having the combined powers of all rare ores. A mage with just a mage weapon can dispatch a Shadow Eli. Valorite is less forgiving.

With the reflect on Copper and Valorite any those 300hp damage dealing dexer/archer is insta death for both. My archer paladin with a slayer vs the reflect power redlines from the reflect.

If there is to be any reward it will need to be weak/deco. The risk vs reward for anything good is not high if armed with an Earth Elemental Slayer. If the area is going to be choose teleport limited area like a peerless wil make many unhappy wasting time in line. Will need to be an open area for the "Who's the better killer" style competition.

As far as having ore for loot. In Ilsh they had the three hut area as ore eli spawn. Not wanting to destroy mining they had been replaced with earth eli. In the past I would have argued against having a running rare ore spawn with ore loot intact. After Maaannnnnyyy years of script mining gone unchecked any present ingot advantage just rewards the cheats. And for the love of (whatever impowers you) add a 5 after the 2 for the Dull Copper Eli ore loot. There is no BOD reward in the Dull zone that is game balance threat. The chance getting a Dull BOD does not match the chance to hit a dull ore location mining.

IF ever there is an Elemental theme spawn, there needs to be a mix. Needs to be fire/water/air/snow/ice spawn in the mix. Also need to give all earth and rare ore eli a Spirit Speak type of power. They just auto heal if within 2 spaces of a bretherns corpse. Mix in every level of spawn Earth Eli just for the fight smarter factor.




NEW event story line.

The rare ores are sick of boat miners blocking their seaside views. They call on their elemental brethern to rid the world of land scarring pest. Ice Eli break off Icebergs for the mobs travels. Number of mob Air Eli determine speed. Number of Snow Eli determine iceberg repair rate. Number Rare Ore Eli determine the fire rate from catapults (be like dragon riders and they wander about till they find an unused catapult). Water Eli agroed and near a catapult will luanch themselves or just walk out to an enemy boat. 1 in 10 catapult shot is a Fire Eli in a clay jar looking to mess up nearest living things on release. Reaper do RNG self checks once agroed of perma polymorphing into a catapult.

Iceberg damage works like champ shrine leveling. Instead the iceberg has respawn generators but the damage to the iceberg equates a chance to any respawn being Enraged spawn (call it Greater,Paragon or Black Rock infected). Improved locked and trapped chest spawn on the iceberg with loot strength/ammount reflected by the more the berg is damaged the better the loot. Thief/Stealth/Hide/Lockpicking/TRAP REMOVAL template that works well on the battlefield. Done with right balance of spawn numbers - can't be soloed let alone one boat alone done - Thief or Miner farmed deadly or not worth while.

Add the new Coral Elemental. Land and water movement like the Water Eli. Uses the Valorite Eli template. Area effect of damage boats. Unlike other water surface deaths, Coral Eli corpse blocks ship movement. 25% as loot have compact coral heart. Tinker new recipes for earings human and gargoyle style. Normal made 1-5 random resist. Exc. made have random elemental damage soak of 1-5 like fish pies effect. All crafted 30% Cursed and/or 30% Brittle and/or 30% Fractured (no POFing) or 9.5% overwrites any the three with 1 self repair for each hit, last .5% chance hit check if cursed already changed to blessed (so could be Blessed with brittle and/or fractured). CANNOT be Imbued.
