Idea for tamers and others.

Maybe they could allow power scrolls to be used on pets, not +20's but say +10 scrolls. I am sure they could figure out a way to do it. It would make a use for those scrolls lying around that people have and probably the soon more to come. All pets could use them not just a Tamers pet thing.

Yes tamers need a boost...?

If it were "animal" type creatures only like hellhounds and below, I'd be all for it. Those guys should be boostable.

I have often thought this myself... would be nice to be able to drop a 25 stat scroll on them and maybe a few 110's or 105's after all how many 110 scrolls are there just lying about gathering dust... But it's a dream right up there with increased stable slots....

I'd love for all my characters to have at least 5 so I could have 2 of the cute little squirrels, a horse, and a bettle and perhaps a golem in my stable or a second horse or pack mule without having to worry about stable space.... I have 2 characters who don't have a mount simply because they have a pair of squirrels or a pair of ferrets.... which aren't a whole lot of fun if you don't have 2 of them....

Squirrels should be downgraded to a half slot, pairs of squirrels for all! :D

Nice thought although I believe the impact on PvP would be obvious. Most pets are already powerfull enough when fully trained and the only balancing factor is you can basically use 1 of each effectively in PvP.

Just to name a couple of concerns.. What would happen if those powerfull pets gained even higher skills, or "Pack Instict" pets -of which you can often have more than 2 and still ride- were capable of reaching player skill values..?

And on a brighter side of things if that happens may I suggest an improvement to the Golem/Tinker "class"? I've often thought it would be nice to sort of fight with a Golem, able to upgrade it maybe.. That kind of thing.

I think it would be great to be able to consume PS on a pet assuming the pet has the skill on the PS.

In order for it to be balanceable, pet dmg needs to be capped in pvp.

I did a proposal around the idea of "Golem Controllers" and an expanded set of craftable machines.. golems, exodus overseers & exodus minions. They were crafted using their base components plus a weapon (mace for golem, kryss for overseer, axe for minion), and had secondary combat skills (parry, poison, and lumberjacking respectively). Sadly the old forum ate it and I didn't keep a local copy. I might write that one up again some time.

No, pets don't need to be stronger. I wouldn't want them eating PS even if there was a damage cap. The very thought of a scrolled out greater dragon... Yikes. Even lesser pets like pack critters, are still good damage dealers in a pack as they stand. Ok, they're not so good on defense, but PS aren't the best solution at all.

Greater dragons already can have skill caps over 120, so they wouldn't benefit from being able to consume PS to increase their skill cap to 120. Well I guess a GD could have 120 in anat or something.

Aye, I remember about the greaters having high skills,ok, bad example. Wake up Wenchy :D But maybe that makes the point better than what I tried to say before my third coffee... Greaters have high skills already, so if a tamer wants a high skill pet, it's there. I think if an 85 skill tamer could scroll up 2 kitsune to the max, they'd be a very strong trainee tamer heh.

If this were a poll, I'd be voting no to this idea. I think the pets we have today are fine as is. We've got a couple now that can go over GM in several skills and I suspect we'll probably get a few more like them in the future. Plus, there are already enough people who complain about tamers and their overpowered pets. Don't need to give them any more changes to be unhappy about and an additional excuse to consider quitting UO.

They're fun & effective. They have two major drawbacks: defence and stable slots. Peacemaking or Discordance, and quick vetting are very helpful. As for stable slots, you're going to need 5 of them for one pack. It's a bit of a squeeze with no way around it unless they review stable slots.
