Make the "first tier" Peerless keys (for example, the Thesis notes, the Dryad's Curse) untimed.

Let a little economy start up, selling the first tier keys, similar to selling the Doom skulls.

Make them harder to get if you must....But wouldn't it be neat to get a couple of key sets one night, and then doing a couple of runs the next night? Or even buying some of the keys?

As it stands now, if you're unlucky enough you can basically spend an entire night doing a Peerless run or two.

Leave the "instanced" access, and the timer on the 2nd tier keys.

No. Entrance should be earned, not bought. Would make more sense to adjust the drops of the various keys so they aren't such an extreme PitA to get (a normal PitA would be wonderful.. something a lot of the keys aren't).

Yea its not the keys themselves, but the drop rate. Many keys take a LONG time to gather up, and at this point people know the peerless boss's easy so they can do them pretty good.

The longer boss's people usually aren't doing anymore because they are all out after that crimmy, and its easier to do mel for a chance. Heck I havent' did a prox/shimmering/etc for a year or so. People just want to do Mel, and Dreadhorn once in a while. because when you get on with your guild and have a hour or 2, you dont' want to spend 3 hours getting keys. You want to get the keys and do the peerless.

They need to balance them out a bit. Raise the lower ones and lower the longer ones. It shouldn't take more than a hour to get keys if your guild wants to do a peerless.

But you also have to figure, with super characters, many people can solo certain peerless so having to get keys keeps them from farming peerless all day. So, it should take SOME time, but not half the day.

In UO, as IRL, one can "earn" something by earning money, and then purchasing things with that money, things one may have difficulty getting by yourself.

Case in point: Food. I do not hunt IRL, nor am I a farmer IRL.

Another example, from UO, would be the Gauntlet Skulls.

The current system was probably designed to give the Peerlesses and "endgame" feel. It's very much like a single-player game, where in the big climax you race against time to accomplish multiple difficult tasks in a row, and have to worry about running out of resources before you even reach, let alone finish, the Big Fight at the end.

However, when you can do something multiple times in a row it no longer feels like an endgame. Also, a single-player game can be paused so that the player can take a few hours off to, for example, go to a movie with his or her wife or husband, or eat dinner with the family, or sleep!!!, and then return to the game later.

It's never taken more than a couple of hours for me to gather 3-4 sets of keys for any of the bosses.

Which boss are you refering to about the keys?

I mean, personally, I find Irk a pain. I sometime kill 5-10 before gettign a brain. Then I'll get 3 in a row. There's nothing wrign with the current system.

These are the PEER bosses. Let's not turn it into a cake walk.

Yesterday aout of us from my guild went to do Drean Horn. (about 7-8 of us). Some had been there before and some of us was first time. It took us almost 4 hrs just to get the pieces needed to get the keys. There was so much death and loss of gold. But no biggie, we expect that when we do peerless. (lol). Even thu I had attempted Dread Horn before Ihad never mad it across. But let me say OMG. The first 2 of us across. WOW look out. My guildmate took off like a shot and I was stucking waiting for me puppy. Wow Within 2 secs of hitting this island. All I saw was a white flash coming at me and I was dead as they come.. That is one Mean unicorn. lol. Anyway. Lady Mel is easier and done a few runs at a time. But as far as some of the nastier peerless. It would be nice to be able to get the keys and then be able to use them later. I dont think they should be made sellable. If you cant help get them sorry why should u buy them? Heck I havent been able to finish the Bedlam quest to get in there. lol After seeing Dread Horn, not sure I want to LOL.
But if keys could be "held" longer by who got them and made not sellable. I think that would be a little better. But thats just my rantings. lol

Nope. What would stop some large guilds from completely hogging the area, farming the keys to sell on their vendors, basically making you pay to do a Peerless?

Well, with the scripter and gold farmers I don`t think gold is earned either. So buying them would be stupid since anyone with 2 dollars can BUY a million.

So yea,earn the keys.

i get all my dreadhorn keys on a discord spellweaving tamer and i dont die once 99.9% of the time. And it only takes like 15-20 minutes to get a set of keys depending on how many times i gotta kill irk.

Nah, sounds like a bad idea to me, just get a decent warrior, spend about an hour and you got probably at least 4 Dreadhorn runs, if you can't get those you kill slow or have insanely bad luck.

And to the poster that said their group got owned, get a couple of x-healing warriors and some mages to heal them, have a little patience and he'll be down soon.

What about making the key collecting more into a quest, like for Lady Mel? Then you could complete the quest, and have 1 peerless run "saved" for a later time. That way, you still have all the ease/difficulty of hunting down the keys, but they're counted towards a personal quest total. Since you'll probably want multiple people against the peerless boss anyway, those multiple people could all complete the quest in advance, so that you could make several runs in a night.

OR

What about making some of the 1st tier keys untimed but unremovable from one's pack? That way you can get some keys in advance, keep them for yourself, but wouldn't be able to trade/sell. It'd give you the option of breaking up the key hunting and boss thrashing.

Just some thoughts...

I'd just like to get to a hold position like you can on Mel on the rest of them. I can't do peerless half as much as I would like because I can't play long enough to do the whole thing.

This quoted post is but one of several examples of posts in this thread that proceed from the assumption that my idea must stem from some personal failing of some kind.

To those posters, the only appropriate response is lol. I never claimed to be a great player, or even a good one really, but let me assure you....

Nah, I'm just gonna leave it there.

*shrugs*
