I wish EA/OSI Could do this.

Today i got my Diablo 3 account hack and cleaned out. Dont ask me how it was done i have not a clue. But to be sure it got hacked.

So i contact blizzard support and within 4 hours i have everything restored to my account. There reply to me was this:

Thank you for taking the time to contact Blizzard Entertainment Customer Support.

We have investigated the recently reported compromise on the above Battle.net account. Per your request, we restored the linked Diablo III account using the best available restoration point. Though restoration points are regularly updated, the best available one may not be completely current when a compromise occurs. Some progress may be permanently lost when an account is reverted to a restoration point. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Now why cant this be done in UO?

Not that i have ever had my UO account hacked, but if i did this is how i would like it dealt with

Because Diablo has instanced games and info is stored by account, and UO is a large world full of items not linked to anything. In UO they can't even keep track of housing. So expecting them to keep track of every little item in every house, on every character, and in every bank is like asking a jellyfish to do calculus.

mu understanding... yes, they do backups, and these can be run separately from the normal prodo shards.
Can they go look to see what you have?, Yes.
Will they? They said they may in certain instances.
Have they? You 'd have to ask those who lost rubble items in the New Magincia sweep, if they still play.
Will they upon request? NO

The backups in UO are saved differently than the backups on Diablo III
Remember at the very core of this game it is still 1998

That's what I'm thinking, a technical failure or something? I based my statement on what Mesanna said. As Producer (associate in title), we believed she could do what she said.

Should UO do this then on day 1 after it´s implemented every shady person playing this game would "hack" themselves to double up.

UO could offer this service, but it would require a Dev to do it.

Wish we could just get EA Authenticators. It would stop any sort of hacking and there wouldn't even be a need for account savepoints/restoration services. First time using the Blizzard one for my Android and it's probably the best invention ever. Best part is it could work for every game under your EA Master account.

ps.. you should really have gotten one for your Battle.net/Blizzard account. Even if you don't have a smartphone it's worth the few dollars.

I just got my battle.net Authenticator free on the Iphone, no more hacking into my account

Im sure EA do them too for their new games, im sure they tryed to sell me one for the new Starwars game.

My jellyfish dropped out of calculus to focus on AP English. Then came a focus on journalism at some Ivy Reef school, and now my jellyfish is too cool to call me back on the weekends. They really grow up fast. :/

I wish UO was better then Wow and Diablo3 from the beginning... but back then well the tech didnt exsist and no one thought that another would stoop so low.
Well they were proven that Yes Virginia there are bottom feeders.....
I would love to come to uo one day and see the Dev post that they have come up with a way to track your goodies, skills, and entry to the game by the second and could replace all down to the last gold sovern you had.
(I can dream cant I?)
In a way this would bring back sooo many players to UO we might have a land rush!
I know so many who quit over the years due to some hack jocky who couldnt help themselves hacking anothers account or home. Looting them bare and deleting their characters.
Will it happen?
No.
Even if it would curtail the duping to squat.... And hacking would drop to the floor as they wouldnt gain nada.... hmmmm
We will never know if it would help...... Jeff is good but not that good, and Mesanna cant pull that many strings... and well Grim ...loveable Grim. Dar'lin we love ya but we know you can't get blood from stones.

It can be done...just EA aint bothered or simply dont employ the staff anymore to do so mate...remember UO as less than 10k players ...at the most optimistic 20k max players now.......then again in the ''boom years'' they never did not bother either...oh well...iam outta here myself soon......

This. Though I agree will never happen but I too can think of dozens of players who left UO after being hacked and stripped of everything they held dear.
