I use Enchanted Bandies & laugh at Necros

Is this what they were intended for? To basically negate an entire template?

When I fight the toughest necro-mages on any of my warriors it is almost ridiculous how easy it is to kill or chase them off :(

Don't get me wrong here as I am certainly not complaining but it just seems screwed up that I can basically drop an entire skill(Chivalry)because of 1 faction item.
With a trapped box(another extremely flawed item/mechanic)and a stack of enchanted bandages I have now effectively dropped 2 skills(Chivalry & Resist)and replaced them with 2 common items.

Wait though as it gets even better as ONLY faction members have the huge advantage of the enchanted bandies. I mean its not like faction members ever fight non-faction members right? So it should be ok I guess lol.

Huh? This was intended? If so, then would at least one DEV have the guts to just come out and admit it? Sure might be easier to understand with an explanation.

It may just be me but it seems that I never hear any explanations about obvious flaws like this from the Devs. Just vague references to "possible fixes in the future" ???

Don't forget any class can use the band-aids, not just warriors. 0 healing still removes curses. With this and enchanted apples nerco = 0 and SS = 0 (or all that just for pain spike or wraith form)

This really sucks. No longer can one PVP unless they are in factions. I can handle the item based game but a faction/stat loss(after getting ganked by the zerg faction) game does not seem worth spending the money for two accounts. I think EA just helped me make up my mind about whether or not to cancel my accounts. All I wanted to do was to log in and pvp for an hour or two every so often. Not much fun when half that time is spent in stat loss due to being ganked by overpowered faction guys at the gate.

Quite true but just like EVERYTHING else in Uo the bandages are about speed. And they are quite faster used on a Warrior making them at least twice as effective.

Plus, dont forget that the OP is about Warrior/Archer vs Necro. The Necro's entire template is based on using Curses. The fact that the Necro can occasionally use an enchanted bandy does him almost no good when battling the Warrior or Archer. The average Mortal/Conc Archer can spam way, way faster then the Necro can effectively use his enchanted bandies.

Better yet when you removed curse after 4 second all curse came off. Even if you were hit by pain spike for 30dmg during the count down, when the curse is removed, you get the portion of HP back that was taken by the pain spike. At least thats how I think it worked. I will go do some tests. :lick:

He could then still apply a bandage and, immediately after, eat an apple, the bandage still running.

I don't think theres a caster that didn't know how further unbalancing this was going to be even before they made it in to the game. Especially on the faction vs non faction front.

But apparently "They have collected no negative feedback about the faction enhanced bandages." Maybe they should start collecting, they'd have plenty.

Edit: Btw ty goldberg-chessy for posting this, I know you're primarily a dexxer. They take no notice of casters saying it's unbalanced.

the least you could do is admit that you're really complaining that your necro keeps getting pwned.

yeah, maybe faction-enanced bandies are a little gimp, but please don't come in here complaining about trapped boxes. jeez. if you're a necro/mage and you aren't chuggin pots and sportin a trapped box, you aren't a necro mage... heck, i carry tb and resist spells. this is not unbalanced.

you're only real complaint is the bandies. the other stuff, everyone has access to.

it's okay. you'll figure it out.

I usually only PvP with my guild lately, as most factioners do, so I haven't really noticed any prob w/ the faction bandies.

I'm sure if I try take my mage and solo a bush dexer w/ no resist and a bunch of faction bandies I might agree.

In our group we usually synch spells so the faction bandies don't do much good.

I like them, however, on my parry mage. I have high dex for parry so it's nice to have the aids hit between apples with mortal spamming archers.

Question.. I don't have a character with healing, but do you HEAL and REMOVE CURSE?

Remove 4 curses with one item or spell? Necro's can't add 4 curses with one spell................

Let remove curse or an item only remove one or two curses at a time

Don;t worry... the guy running the show Mr. Jacobs? He won't even read this. He has stated the only thing he listens to, are people quitting, only then he will decide he has made a mistake. He is a real winner! So don't feel bad when no DEV says boo about an issue, the boss has told them not to listen.

When these were on TC1, our guild tested them out to see how bad we would be getting screwed over (bout 95% of us are some type of mage) and we had a huge post on here with all the results we had of them healing you 80+ dmg (40ish if you got disrupted) and Draconi simply said "There not that bad, I don't see them being a big problem" Well needless to say they went live, and he was right they're "that bad" there ABSOLUTLY HORRIBLE, these faction bandaids allow the worst PvP'rs to now seem good, when a person is on foot vs. 2 mages that are mounted and can live, you know theres an imbalance. With 50 EP, These aids, a box, and a balanced bow or weapon in your hand, everyone else might as well just logoff their mages of any type, because it is impossible that you will kill one of these kids.


I'm beggining to feel as though Draconi plays a dexxer and favors them so much he wants the entire game base to be dexxers, from the looks of these aids...




Also before anyone comes out with the comment "Well they do cost 100 silver for 10 aids" I think a more reasonable price would be 1k silver for 1 aid, Silver is so easily farmed I can go to demon temple on my PvM'r and come away with 16k silver an hour, 100 silver for 10 bandys that allow you to become invincible 1vs1 or 2vs1 against any type of mage is definatly to little of a price to pay.

True, that. I used to do a roaring trade in bulk enchanted apples - was looking forward to stocking them in stacks rather than loose bags - but I haven't had a sale since the faction bandages were made available.

Sales aside, the bandages seem ridiculously overpowered.

here's the fix:

give necros a spell that converts healing to damage. this is a common ability in just about EVERY game except UO.

the spell should be limited to healing acts that achieve heals in the 60 to 80 range

if you time it right, they hit themselves for 30 to 40 damage when they heal. if you don't, they get the heal.

it is a curse, so it can be removed, but the "remove curse" part of these bandaids should roll AFTER the healing portion, so the curse happens before it is removed by the bandaids.

tweak it a little, but it's workable.

Yeah, it's basically impossible for any mage (whether it be necro or not) to kill a dexxer now... all they have to do is run with 4 second bandies that remove curse and they can't die. It's practically god mode in a 1v1.

I see all you do is grasp onto small details in attempt to get out, If you beat me, I'll give you 125m and the cost of x-fers, so 185m if you can beat me with 2 mages.

Actually, we don't. What he's saying is the simple truth as evidenced by an encounter with one such dexxer last night. Curses, EO, Corpse, Pain Spike, Strangle all almost instantly removed probably by alternating apples and faction bandies, plus chugging to heal and cure.

Clearly, I now see why you were against nerfing Evil Omen. No further comments on this- nor serious replies towards you. Most interesting part of this, is how you promoted the use of such "few other items" like the Boxes, in an effort to deny EO being OPed! Maybe you don't deem those OP so they must surely be not, eh? ;P Gimme a break.

And to sum it up **IMHO** Necromancy, Chivalry, Resisting Spells and everything consumable are all very badly implemented. The same could be said about Poisoning, Ninjitsu. I could go on and even extend this to include what is not in the game at all and should have been.
And if I wanted to spice it up I'd say that various things have nowadays uses that(I believe) were not intented from their original creators.. nor did they ever imagine how they might be used. Like Energy Fields for example. Back to basics, very little thought has been put into any expansions including AoS and onwards.

Let me crawl back to my Cave now :spider: Before the "J00 QUIT, STFU" posts begin.. ;P

The basis of the post you are referring to was that "It is impossible to survive an EO strategy." That is completely untrue as I have survived a 4 man EO gank more than once making use of invis sash and pots (never bothered to carry trapped boxes personally) while playing on Atlantic from Sweden with a not so great ping.

So what exactly does that have anything to do with the present discussion where a bandaid that makes an entire skillset useless? Do you have any useful suggestions to work around it like I had with your EO problem? If you do then feel free to chime in. I will greatly appreciate them and shut up.

Don't PvP at the gate, thats not really PvP its gimp against gimp and group of gimp agains bigger group of gimp and if your alone its all on one.
Simply put Yew gate is not PvP.

Simply put Yew gate is not PvP.
It's less PvP of faction or champ spawn but much more PvP than sitting at any trammie ruleset lands. When there's nothing else going on and you dont want to do trammie stuff, gate fighting is all you got.

I can't imagine what on earth they were thinking. They KNOW that cooking has two MAYBE three things that they can be productive and make any money on at all, and they take away one of them...for...no...reason. I mean how long did chefs have to wait for ANYTHING useful to make??? 7 years???

I mean put aside that these bandies basically negate necromancy, put that sheer idiocy aside. Just for the fact that chefs were basically cut in half by these bandages... thats enough to remove them from the game.

No offense but saying that fighting at the gate is not pvp is just plain ridiculous.

Even with all the ganking and househugging you still have the best chance for a true 1 vs 1 in the field when fighting at the gate. I get great solo fights all night long. Its not hard to find a good fight if you are up for it.

If you like to fight 1 vs 1 in the field you should be at the gate. If you lack any real 1 vs 1 pvp skill you should be at a spawn listening to your caller tell you when and where to lay down fields or wither. Obviously this is not 100% what happens at every spawn but neither is ganking 100% what happens at the gate.
But bottom line is that you get 100% more true 1 vs 1 pvp at the gate.

You never worked around anything, you said it's justified something's OPed because an item can counter it. If that makes any sense, or is anywhere near "Balance" in both sides.

And now there's an item countering the same thing essentially and you're saying that said item is OPed, along with faulty generalisation so you can milk some sympathy, and a different method should be given to combat the OPed-in-the-first-place Evil Omen(to name what's the issue MAINLY).

If someone's not making sense that's you. Now go play with your hoops, I'm done discussing this. Too old argument. Next you'll start with that Invisibility ring and I'll just throw myself off the roof.

FYI I too dislike those bandies and had said so upon them being first introduced in the game. But you don't fix the solution, you fix the problem usually. Then the solution becomes redundant. "La".
