Personally, everyone knows the bone crusher, and admittedly, the berserkers maul, are total trash. All macing artifacts up to this point have been terrible, if compared to every other artifact out there. Example.

Berserker's Maul:
75 Swing Speed Increase (60 Max)
50 Damage Increase.

Two Mods on an artifact. One mod thats not even accurate. Want to make it viable? Add three leeches on it, make it like a soul seeker. Definitely usuable then.

ML Arty Bone Smasher?
40 Stamina Leech
+10 Macing

Are youuuuuuuu serious? I can pick these up off the ground like they were reageants in the wild. I can see why, due to TWO mods again. At least add SSI and DI. Good noob weapon then.

Bone Crusher:
75 Damage Increase
50 Hit Lower Defense
+10 Str

Mmk. Three mods. At least its not two. Add SSI, HCI, and Lower attack. Then people would use it, although still not exclusively.

Those artifacts have just ALWAYS bugged me. I hate going thirty rounds of doom, just to have a bone crusher drop in my pack, which is free to anyone who wants it. It usually just gets left on the ground.

I sell Bone Crusher for 10k, and have actually sold quite a few of them.

Berserker's Maul sells for 50-75k, and makes a great macing training weapon.

Bone Smasher.....well....ya got me on that one. I'm lucky to get 1k for it, and it usually ends up sitting on the vendor for a while before it does sell.

When I first started playing, my first character was a blacksmith. I gave him a bit of mace fighting (so I could beat on stuff with my smith's hammer in a pinch) to ward off orcs, mongbats, trolls, and the like, and actually found the Arctic Death Dealer to be a decent weapon for low level PvM. Plus, it glows in the dark!

Macing really needs some artifact love. So does swords.

People used to seriously own with the Maul in PvP.

The Maul was basically designed for the time when there were NO caps on ANYTHING.

It was frightening how fast they could kill you.

In all honesty though.....If I were a macer, the Maul would be my default weapon.

I remember suiting my guy up with 252 stam (somewhere around here... had a sash, cape, boots, and earrings of blessing on too I think) just so that I could go around and swing the berserkers at 2x/second. Vs a guy with 40ish DCI and 120 parry/wrestle and 70 physical, I killed him in about 2 1/2 seconds with him trying to (mage) heal through it. Heh, it was fun.

Maybe Leurocian will take a look at this thread when he's done with the other ones he's into

IT was silly, but it was fun if the people facing eachother were both decked out. I could take out 3 or 4 5/6 mages at a time with that dexer swinging a 50% harm kryss 2/x second with enough mana for 7 AI's, my 20% damage reduction from my swampy, and of course my leet bola dodging abilities. On the same token, I could kill these dexers on my mage. There was certaintly a lot more room for different playstyles without the caps, but unfortunately I guess it wasn't too friendly for newcomers to PvP.

Yep, Macers were feared by other Warriors throughout the lands for their Armor Busting capabilities, plus we just plain knocked the crap out of Stamina with a Q-Staff. As soon as a Macer came on the battlefield with a Warhammer in hands, the other Warriors ran for the hills in order to protect their armor. A Crushing Blow from a Warhammer was almost assured to bust a Shield, and would likely bust other Armor too.

Kinda like how Mages feared GM LJ Swordsman, a Conc Blow from a Axe would halve the victim's INT for like 45 secs, which basically put Mages out of the fight because there was no LMC/MR/+Mana back then. Plus GM LJ Swordsman did large amounts of damage, similar to that of Macers, however a Macer still outdamaged them with a Crushing Blow from a Warhammer.

When a Macer took to the battlefield back then, it was basically like this clip.

Swords is fine the soulseeker blade of insanity and so on are fine examples.

Mace fighting however is at the moment awful there are NO good artifacts to use and the only one worth mentioning is the berserkers I have beaten people to a pulp serveral times with it in fel so when used right it is effective but still not nearly as good as a crafted mace wep.

I still feel like mace fighting and fencing need a good soulseeker equivalent even if for only pvm I think it could help make those skills more equally valuable to have. As far as pvp crafted weapons are always going to be the best for any weapon skill. You just don't run to yew gate with a soulseeker in your hand unless you want to die. Sure some of the artifacts for swords can be used in pvp but again they will never be as good as a solid crafted weapon and in all reality that is how it should stay.

Fencing got the Night's Kiss, the first "Uber" Repond Slayer Arty. Then Swords got the Soul Seeker, another good PvM Wep. Then Fencers got the Vorpal Blade, a bit better than Night's Kiss, and has AI as well. Macers? Macer's haven't got jack [censored]. Best PvM Slayer a Macer has is Exiler. Wind's Edge Tessens were nerfed to uselessness with the change to Life Leech/Mana Leech. Wrath of the Dryad is half decent. Dragon Nunchakus are good against Flesh Renderers with Con Wep up, but that's about it (Gotta love the *Thwack* sound they make though). So Macer's really don't got that many good Arties.

I've been playing macers almost exclusively for 8 years. Yeah, our artifacts suck. I use a berzerker's maul as a general purpose weapon, an exiler for demons, and then just UBWS crap for everything else.

Well, maybe one good thing with crappy macing arties is that with the new BOD/runic changes, smiths maybe can make a good business selling good macing weapons...

EA could "kill two birds with one stone" by making these crappy macing artifacts components for craftable player artifacts.

Say a new craftable war mace could require the bone crusher as a base component - Along with other items to successfully to be created. Make the failure rate high enough that to successfully craft the new artifact one might need 5 or 6 Bone Crushers on standby. Just incase the crafting process fails, destorying the Bone Crusher.

At any rate, I agree the current macing artifacts could use some loving. But I'd like to point out to everyone, that runic made Diamond maces pretty much own with the right properties and intensities. A Diamond mace with 20% SSI is basically equal to a b-maul (that is, if you have the right armor).

and, what about the Arctic Death Dealer?

Even when Paragon arties were worth something, it was still junk.

It was just an idea to make the crappy artifacts useful. There could be a craftable artifact for that artifact as well. Hell, all of the artifacts (even the good ones and non-macing ones) as far as I'm concerned could be a future component for a newer craftable artifacts.

It just seemed like a good way to link the old with the new for years to come.

Take the staff of Pyros for example.

staff of magi
+
10 blue diamonds
+
10 Rubies
+
a 100% fire wooden weapon (or a 100% fire Blackstaff to keep this rare)
+
a golden skull (for looks and evil feel)
+
crafter that's learned the recipe

Some of these "artifacts" can be found thrown out at Brit bank. It's fine is some artifacts or less desirable than others, but it's also true that most mace-artis are junk. I doubt they would bother tweaking the existing ones, but perhaps something new can be added in the future.

I always liked the Dragon Nunchaku and the Cavorting Club; but, then, I am a huge sucker for anything Self-Repairing, ES-pecially on weapons!

Most artifact weapons are garbage. The soulseeker being the only good one, and it's not even a marti!.

The best weapons should be, and are, player made. I like unique weapons, and macers have the best one (diamond maces make me wet). Not to mention macers save the most money on weapons and scrolls.
