i think there may be a problem with sigil's

i have noticed this twice now with sigs.

we (TB) owned a bunch of towns.
the sigs (on our faction stone) went from not stealable (on town stones) to 'neutral' then BOOM they where unstealable, STILL in town and now belonged to Shadowlords.

so..... am i missing something here.
i thought that SL had to get control of a town first, then corupt it, THEN the spawn would come.

it seems to be going backwards.
spawn comes, sigils auto pop to SL.

i was actually WATCHING this happen.
i was waiting for 3 other towns to come stealable (which havnt for 2 days) and noticed this.
we even went to town that was listed as 'neutral' and could not steal the sig off the town stone.

me thinks something is seriouslly going wrong here.

this is getting stranger by the minute.

i just went to one of the towns that we just 'lost' that had never become stealable or even moved from the town and it STILL says its owned by TB and the stone is still TB purple.
and its still not stealable.

and i went to one of the other 3 towns that i have been waiting for for 2 days to become stealable and it says on our faction stone that it is owned by SL (even though they havnt touched it) but in the town the sigil stone is MINAX red AND THE SIGIL WAS STEALABLE!

oh wowsers, this is messed up.

I am in SL and can confirm that something is seriously wrong. I went to sigils listed as RECAPTURABLE, only they were not, I could not steal them.

Also, I could not steal a sigil in CoM stronghold... something is wrong, I agree.

so..... wasnt this suppose to change as well.
when you placed a sigil and took over a town, wasnt the existing guards that belonged to another faction suppose to go poof?




ok, so here i went and picked up all the sigils and put them in base, yet on the faction stone they all say that they are not stealable.

and how and why did most of them auto flip to Shadowlords when they never took them or corupted them?



so many questions
so little time.... oh... wait, im on days off, i got lots of time!

I'm not in factions, so I know little of the system. So instead, I'll ask questions!

On the Trammel side of those Shadowlord cities, are they being invaded?

If so, has anyone tried to repel the invaders? I know on Cats, people are avoiding Britain (dragons), Yew (demons) and Moonglow (void) like the plague when they get invaded. I also noticed that 3 of the 5 cities that you are having troubles with are Britain, Yew and Moonglow. So I thought that maybe the cities would remain in Shadowlord hands as long as the Trammel invaders are still there?

Yuppers, something is definitely wonky. I joined one of my girls up with TB today and have been pooping in and out all morning looking at the stones and looking for a nice invasion. I didn't see any nice invasions, and while i didn't see Poo either I did see the same results on the board as Poo did.

Also almost got my arse kicked by an invulnerable Corrupted soul in Magincia :(

I hope we get an explanation !

I saw that happen to my GF last night, they went Invulnerable to her...she left and switched weapons and everything was fine. I don't know if it was leaving the area that did it or not.

As for an explanation I think it was too much content being pushed through at once time...I'm not buying the "Something went Hokey" excuse computers don't work that way they only know 2 things 0 and 1 either the wrong stuff got published (earlier version of the code and not the final) or a lot of stuff slipped through on Test Center and Origin (probably due to the halloween goodies with Sicarii and Trick or Treating). Doing a remote upload to the various servers shouldn't have cause this type of corruption and if it had then it should have been noticed on the boot up of the server due to an error either from a conflict or incomplete data.

You mean dumping new code on top of already broken code might cause problems????

This latest publish is a prime example of how completely incompetent the people running this game really are.

Instead of fixing the many bugs that have existed in factions for YEARS, they just add a bunch of pixels and call it good.

yes, this HAS allways been the way and has been for all the years ive been doing factions (gahds.... i just realised ive been doing factions longer then my 3 kids are in age..... damn i need a hobby... or drugs)

but i recalled reading somewhere that they where fixing that, so that when a town was switched up (as to new ownership) that they (the guards) where suppose to go poof.

i could probablly roll through all the post from UO for the last few weeks and find the statement, but that would require work on my end, and damnit Jim im a UO Junkie not a Doctor! no, seriouslly i have to carve pumpkins and then get into costume and get my sling shot and bag'o marbles ready (for the bad kids)

I don't think it was applied to guards.

I remember what you're talking about. Is it possible that it's just vendors that go poof, not guards?

venders on sonoma arnt going poof either.
Weird: vendors and guards *should* be going poof. But this may be because of "legacy" versions that existed before the publish.

We'll look into this next week

Well, OK it is a fact that the vendors I have been watching on Origin have been there for a good while. I'm not sure people are all that interested in placing guards and vendors right now. We're all too busy doing content. Thanks for reading, Drac.

Me and my friend spent 4 hours on a friday night waiting for our sigils to corrupt, only to find that vesper decided to have a real panic attack and ungo purification on our monolith in our base!!



not only that, we didnt get our points for stealing them. We're seriously pissed off we wasted a friday night bothering with this crap!

Well, thats part of what we are trying to figure out. There is mutual interaction between invasions and corrupted sigils.

If I'm reading this right, you are saying that the sigil went directly from corrupted into purify mode and never even got transferred to the town. Is that right?

Further, do you know if there was an invasion in the corresponding trammel city?

Also Drac posted in another thread today that they were basically going to be working invasions from their side this weekend and bypassing the factions systems in place.
Might still be good to send in feed back or a bug report with details.

We didnt bother checking the city Vesper, we were kinda bored by the time we caught the sigils. We waited four hours for no one to raid. Typical early friday night uo hehe.

And yes, the sigil went directly from corrupted into purified mode on our base monolith. Very beculiar. And when you clicked the stone, it said 'neutral'.

If anyone plays Europa, maybe you could tell us if there was an invasion in vesper? I spent the whole night pvping to be honest!

Well belive it or not i actually had a GM try visit me, but he took so long to arrive i'd forgotten i'd even sent the page. He said he'd tried but i was unavailable. Typical. Hopefully this thread can clear it up.

This happened to us last night at TB. We got the sigils and three of them went from corrupting straight into purification mode and were unable to be stolen off the post in the stronghold. Three of us paged a GM but all got the canned "send to bug reports" response.
Funny thing was, a GM had pulled a guildie into jail just before that for blocking one of the entrances with candelabras after Minax members had paged on him and had sent him back after finding out that the rules said we could do that within the stronghold so we know a GM was available.
Why can't the GM's just fix them when the sigils do this?
