I see the need for an important change before the next Patch goes live

Since part of the purpose of the upcoming patch is to have loot worth looting I really think the game needs a "/hidecorpse after looting" command. Monsters spawn so fast in UO when I am normally camping a room I can get whats quite likely a 100 bodies stacked on top of one another. There is going to be now way to loot,unless at least the bodies will vanish after you look at them, even if items are still on it. They can still be there for others to see, just hidden to your client. You can add the command "/show corpse" or something which would make all corpses still not decayed reappear.

Most if not all other games have some sort of feature like this and until now there was no reason to even click on corpses.

If there is already a work-around or command to do this I will be shocked that I have never heard about it.

Hello it is called a Necro. Animate Dead to sort out what has been looted. If in an area killing that much that fast then right template for the job. There are other hunting templates besides "the nose in dragon butt all the time tamer" , "machine gun archy" & "whirling idiot in the narrow shallow end of the mana pool"

I like the EC show corpse names. After the kill just DC the corpse name after it pops up. Right click what is loot and close the window. Can't keep up with looting might be time to move on from the monbat massacre. Hot key harvester blade the corpse name just to refresh the fade rate of the name before opening corpse.

Harvester did not see light again this last season. So when the hell is it going to be on some reward list again. Not like it is something to rule the fel Yew moongate or champ. It is a highly useful tool that should be in the backpack of every newly created character. At least make it a new crafted recipe. Care less if it requires burning 1000 dragon scale to make one special ingot that has a 10% chance to make one harvester by a legend smith holding a +60 ASH while wearing a 29% tally. Just should not be limited to those in the right place at the right time.

^ Well, Since I am not 100% sure what you said... Its not the speed of the kill that makes any difference when it comes to looting.. Its the speed of the respawn... Unless you are pulling and which I have never seen it needed in UO.. Even if you are farming Greater Dragons (and unless you are the mad note they do not die super fast) you get the bodies stacking up very fast and I find it impossible to look at the 15+ items they drop and manage the respawn.

This feature already exists with Pinco UI. When you press Ctrl+Shift it will show you the corpses. Once it has been opened it won't show again. You never miss an un-looted body!
What about for classic? I'd love to have that too. :(

Yeah the CC could use a bit of loving. I bet you would be more interested in the HUE ID tool though Brian!

On a side note I hope all these features are built into the new default UI they are working on.

I am and will remain a solely EC user, but if the CC is to get all this stuff, I will be very happy.
Those features are darn useful and will make CC users life much easier too.

I think I remember Popps suggesting this a couple months ago and getting flamed because it might make life easier for scripters, if I remember correctly

How about this instead. The devs add a line to your players context menu that says "I hunted". When you click on it, it then asks how long you hunted for, you select the time, then your Mob, you select that, then it randomly generates all of the treasure you would have collected in that amount of time, and those all appear in your moving crate. Now I"m sorry for this next part, but you'll actually have to manually open your moving crate and remove the items from it. In a later publish they'll make sure any really cool armor pieces will automatically drop on your paperdoll.... you're welcome. :)

Garth stop trolling. My suggestion has nothing to do with taking any of the challenge or work out of the game. It does not make it easier to kill monster, and I did not suggest any kind of auto-looting. All I suggested was a way to overcome one of the poor design aspects of this game; once a player does the work of killing a monster, they should not have to hunt through a mountain of corpses that have already been looted to finally get to the new one. Once the corpse is open, the player should still need to look through the loot and identify what they want to keep. All I am suggesting is that the player should have a way to easily open the corpse of the monster they already earned looting rights on. This is not a far-fetched concept. If you actually think about it, it should be a pretty standard feature that actually takes some of the frustration out of the game without decreasing the amount of legitimate work needed to kill a mob.

To address Yadd's point; I brought this up a while back, and yes, I did get flamed for it by several people, although many others liked the idea. Scripters already have this ability, all this would do is make the playing field a little more even by offering legitimate players a needed feature. To be honest, the only reasonable logic for someone to object to this feature would be because that person is a scripter who does not want the playing field leveled in any way.

Aran, I get that. I understand that he is mocking "easy mode". Apparently he did not read/understand my post, and is trying to make it sound like I am asking for something that takes the challenge out of the game. That is not the case. My suggestion has nothing to do with an "easy mode" type request. My suggestion to have an option for corpses to auto-open upon death is along the same lines as having the ability to recycle/smelt an entire container of items instead of needing to do each one individually and having the "make number / make max" options on crafting menus; my suggestion does not take challenge out of the game, it only removes some of the monotonous click click click.

If someone does not want to use it, they can simply not select the option as with insurance and circle of transparency. If it is that big of an issue, leave it off of the siege ruleset.

In reality, the new loot system goes much farther to simulate "easy mode" with the awesome new gear that is possible. All I am suggesting is implementing a feature that takes some of the monotony and frustration out of the game.

No. Perhaps it would help if you actually read my post. All I am asking for is an option that allows the corpse to open upon death. That's it.

It doesn't auto loot. You have to click a button to start it first.

All Pinco's does is make the 'ctrl shift' object handles discount handles that have been double clicked. ie corpses that have been opened. So any handles showing have not been used yet.

yes, but that's a part of the organiser agent. The function Blood Ghoul was asking for is the 'ctrl shift' filter.

Didn't someone on the Siege subforum recently say Siege needs item insurance? "lol prodo shards" indeed.
There have always been one or two people on Siege who felt the shard needed insurance. Of course they were wrong...but that's another story...la

Several of the features of of the current pincos resemble what most would consider cheating in UO. i hope the devs look closely at the new EC UI before approving it.

I wonder if most of the EC users (around 50% UO players ?) consider it cheating and if most of the CC users would consider it cheating if it was a feature that was available in the CC

As long it can only be done in EC and it is not allowed to use tools in CC that can do it. Stuff like that need to be approving for both client or for non of them.

Something like that was removed at EA's request from UOA years past.

I don't see how you can call it cheating if it's approved by Broadsword, but shrug, if it's there I use it, if it's not I don't. Does'nt really worry me either way. The unauthorised tools are another matter tho!

well, i look at it like this. If i play a necro, but know that blood oath is ineffective because of a feature, that negates the usefulness of that spell, taking away from the overall value of the skill. It does effect me because its making a skill that i enjoy playing less enjoyable.

autoloot makes it easy for scriptors. if there was an anti-scripting program then i would be fine with it. but theres not. items losing value makes me less likely to want to hunt for them. Its easier just to buy them from the scripters. takes away from the game.

i just think that features should enhance gameplay, not diminish it.

I'm a little confused by this comment; Scripters already have the ability to auto-loot. An added game mechanic would not make it any easier for the scripters, it would actually make it more fair for those who DO NOT script. However, the whole point here is that I was asking for an auto-open-corpse option, not an auto-looter. Now this I agree with 100%. This is exactly why I am asking for an auto-open-corpse option; because it would enhance gameplay by taking out some of the monotony that serves no constructive purpose.

Blood Oath is still useful against EC Pinco's users. It can still be used defensively to buy yourself time to heal up and set up pre-casts, but it can't be used offensively against them anymore.

Wow, the trolls have taken over this thread. pancakes about a single EC feature but still adoring that mess of a CC that every kid can script within an hour by just doing a google search. If you people have a honest interest in fixes things, start pointing at your beloved CC first. But i doubt you have.. :troll:

Yup the quickest way to remove scripters from the game would be to remove the CC!

Before anyone :gun: shoots me...I use the CC 75% of the time :)

I think there is a misconception of how this feature in Pinco's works.
It does NOT sweep all the cnntents of the corpse into your backpack in one move.
It moves items one at a time at the same kind of speed as you could click and drag. While it is operating you MUST keep your mouse moving, or it won't work at all. All it saves is the strain on your fingers holding a mouse button down to drag.

The Pinco feature also has a down side...
If you've not set the organiser up to loot everything (including junk) then it's very easy to miss an item you would really have wanted to have.
