Well I love the new dragons, they make taming feel *almost* like it use to be. I've been playing off and on since UO launched, and back in 1997 I had a GM tamer on Atl.
That was back when tamers were so rare, you basically could count on 2 hands all the GM tamers on the shard.
Back then fire breath usually 1-2 hit killed you, same as the new dragons, (though once you tamed them and left the dungeon, they hit as hard as a chicken lol, and if their fire breath didnt hit before their target died, it would lose it forever). But having a 1-2 hit walking cannon was nice.
Then they fixed that bug, and white wyrm walk speed was like paragons when they were told to attack, PvP was great with them! and they looted corpses for you!
Then came the nerf where they halved all pet and monster hps, which made it much harder to keep pets alive, even though monsters were weaker too.
Then came the uber mounts, etc etc.
Owning a dragon now gives a similar sense of awe, since the things are so darn powerful, and if you get one with near 1000 hps, they fire for the same as a wild reptalon, which is pretty nice. I haven't pvped in a long time though, so I havent tested it out (hate the new item based pvp) I liked wearing a death robe after being resed, and jumping back into the battle with a chaos shield and a DP kryss
, and since pet speed was *balanced* pets are a joke in pvp, unless you use a pet ball gank.
but I digress, these dragons are the best thing to happen to taming in years!
