I paged a GM, and napa was destroyed

I just have to bring this up, cause it makes cear a saddy-poo.
The University on Nappa is a long lasting Seer blessed (mostly) area on napa valley. Out of nowhere on one of the Cabal's strolls around the multiverse, one "drago-thien" discovered that the tavern had unblessed and fallen, and all of the seer blessed furniture was still in place. now i know most people who have started playing UO since the RP exodus dont care. great, hit the back browser button. For the rest of us....
Ofcourse I paged a GM. Now dont get me wrong. I know and understand the role of a GM and I know what they can do. What I hopeing for? The placement of a house. not by the GM, no no, that would be a sin. but by me. move the fury, let me place, move it back. instead EVERYTHING, was deleted. all historical records, sentimental anything. gone. Huge bummer. Thank Zog I play atlantic. eh, weve had our share.

So devs. How does this make you feel? Im pretty sure i know how it makes you feel. so how about this.
A shard based petitioning system. I know i know, no more seers ever. Honestly? it was great but we dont need them do to what they did for us. you can do just as much. even more id imagine.
What if a guild has a player town and say....i dunno...wanted an increased spawn of wisps in their town? They should be able to petition world builders, devs or whatever, have it be put to vote, brought up for consideration anything.
we were once able to preserve history and make shards OUR SHARDS, with help. we cant do it alone.
Isnt there anything we can do?
I'll bring it up in more detail in californias town hall. Ive got alot of ideas like this.
keep your fingers crossed sosarians. for the cabal is on your side*

you shouldn't have paged a GM obviously.
especially asking for you to be able to place there, sounds like they did help you by removing the unmovable objects.
did you try to place there ?

I diddnt ask them for anything, just stated a seer bless location was rotting and to talk to me please. I dont really mind GMs, I understand them, but its time their abilities ammount to what they once did, if not exceed. No i diddnt try to place. I do not game on napa whatsoever. I just visit RP areas on some shards and RP.

So ... you play ATLANTIC and you wanted a house on Napa with the blessed items ... and managed to cause what was left of one of our historical sites to be destroyed ... on a shard you don't play ... hmmm

I don't think the original house blessings work anymore. If the account becomes deactivated, the house will decay.

Almost a point, but rather twisted.

so....I play ATLANTIC....and wanted a part of Napa valleys shard replaced.....and managed to have what would have happened even if someone who wansnt an RP found it happen.....on a shard I do play...hmmmmm

on the other hand, I doubt you would really want one of your historical sites to be floating peices of random furniture.......

So what are your thought on having devs or gm's fix this? or go around and make what was "seer blessed" then, Dev/EAmythic/Oigin blessed NOW?

No - No - No.

I am from Napa and will always love napa. I wanted to share a part of napa rp history with a fellow rp friend from Atlantic. I remembered how awesome the university was and all of the unique writings that can be found there.

While continuing the tour I took him down the coast to the amazing tavern, and was shocked to find all of its furniture and items stuck on the ground. I was upset with this, and so was Cear. We were upset because it doesn't matter if it is Atlantic history or Napa history, it is UO history. It is uo RP history. That is important to us more than anything.

We didn't want a house, we dind't want seer blessed items. We wanted it fixed. We wanted what was left of the history in that area to be made permenant and we wanted to reverse all damage if possible.

Instead we get a gm who doesn't care and he deleted everything. That was not Cear's goal when he called. If we knew that would of happened, we never would have. This was for love of rp, not greed.

I am saddened that this has happened, I am saddened that the owner wasn't able to transfer it to someone else first. And I am saddened that the news of this isn't inspiring more people to speak to EA about this, as oppose to getting mad at us. This wasn't our intention.

Sorry to hear about this.

I understand that you both were interested in saving a piece of UO history. I'm sorry your tour of Napa turned out this way...what a bummer.

Its a sad thing. But I feel it can be prevented. Can we not submit these locations and have the modern workers make them actually parts of the server or something? That would be a good stage one for getting the world moldable again. Weve had this happen many times on atlantic. if West yew university drops, i'll prolly off myself.

Far as I know that's what's supposed to happen. I am under the understanding that blessed houses cannot be sold.
While I understand your desire to preserve history that ultimately was up to the house owner to do.

They can be traded. We recently got ownership on atlantic of the first seer blessed rune library. Now if we can just get our hands on the glitch that makes baned players homes last forever......
This could just be the effect of a dying shard. I hope not. Alas, alas, alas. I shall go RP now.

Sorry to have misunderstood ... but I guess i am a bit miffed because you guys should have known what would happen. The GM does not know the value, only that they are "stuck" items. You would have been better served contacting a Developer than a GM ...

your pretty much right there. but i wont get started on how hard it is to get them to respond to lil ol me. I bet they are getting pounded in every method of communication. All in all. I now gear this post in a way to prevent this stuff from happening. and maybe get more player influenced changes on shards. so what if we dont have seers to make player memorials? cant some one at EA just make a chosen fel grave stone say, rest in peace cear dallben? seems like these things are easy and overlooked because they were soley made by the hands of seers.

As an RPer from Great Lakes I feel for the loss... that is a sad day for all.... it's a loss for the entire community...

I honestly wish they could do something that was more "fair" to return to blessings..... and the individualization of shards.... Some of the old things on some of the shards are very awesome..... making each shard unique it's a shame that some of that was lost..

While I don't disagree that a dev should have been contacted instead of a GM...wouldnt it be basic customer service for the GM's to KNOW about seer blessings? They should be told something like...any issue with seer based items, please kick it upstairs to us.

I remember that Xanthar (the guy who had one of the nicest museums in history that got banned under odd circumstances) had his blessings deleted several times due to GMs not knowing what they were doing. And this was right when he had received them around 9 years ago.
I've had discussion with GMs about blessed houses 6-7 years ago as well.
There is no communication or real policy regarding Seer/GM blessed houses whatsoever as far as I can detect.

I saw it a week or two ago. And I also paged GM's to see if they'd unlock the clutter because if they would or did I was gonna pick it up place a plot, and put the house back together. But the gm I got, wouldn't do anything, said there was nothing he could do. So I just assumed we had a new pinic area on Napa. Kinda crappy that they just deleted it all.

I'm not sure why I'm replying. Perhaps it's just in the interest of history and to let you know exactly how (or maybe why) Liquid Pleasure's fell.

For those of you who don't know me, I used to play Dorien. If you go to where LP's was, you can see my house still sitting there, just to the north of the ex-tavern. After I had quit for six years, I was shocked to see my house still stood there, with everything still in it.

You see, way back when we first got "blessed," (which for those who weren't around back then means IGM decorated) we spent thousands of boards a day and many hours just to keep our little village decorated. We did it all with a smile and stayed in character. These acts as well as some very odd shard politics led to our getting blessed. We had our decorations before lockdowns were possible. However, the decorations weren't exactly what we wanted, thanks to a non resident giving her ideas on what should go there and the IGM listening.

Then the devs made two things happen. They allowed furniture to get locked down in our homes, and they started house decay. The house decay quickly became a serious issue, as the change wasn't well publicized and every member of the Village of Virtue was on vacation at the same time. That meant that if the IGM's didn't do something about it quickly, the entire village of IGM decoration would be lost at the same time. So, they made everything permanent. Everything in this case is the tavern, the tailor/mayor's house (aka my house), the house next to it (which still holds the LP stone, once the VoV stone), darB's alchemist shop, Zerver's inn, the miner's house and the University.

We went on with business as usual, trying to change the "pure" image of Virtue while Jeb the Advisor split the university from the "main" virtue stone, creating FoV. This was all very carefully planned out, and it apparently worked like a charm, as it led to a huge branching out of Napa Valley "blessed" areas as well as a many great events. But the most important thing, to us, was that they allowed us to redecorate LP's the way WE wanted it from the start.

Virtue, you see, wasn't supposed to be virtuous. It was supposed to be a den of pirates and hooligans, led by an incompetent and out of her league tailor who contstantly let things get out of hand. So we got the good old pirate decor placed in "our" tavern. But the process involved picking up the house and placing it again, and this time, it wasn't permanent.

When Trammel happened, darB moved out, Zerver folded up the inn and the owner of the house with the stone quit outright, leaving just three home owners with the non decaying houses. And after Blood Stone, the original owner of LP's left, he left the tavern in the care of Fiona Pentell.

For years, she kept the place standing, even though it was a seldom visited curiousity. To her it meant an important part of the history of the shard. Me, I'm still not convinced.

Anyhow, she finally forgot to refresh it. It wasn't intentional, but just an accident. Although, I was content to leave the blessings there, it was a fitting monument to our little ghost town. At the very least, they could have left my bones there.

Anyhow, by this time next week, noboby will care any more about the history behind Liquids (after all, who knows anything about Shanarra or Mith or the Red Eye or CoF. For that matter, who remembers the antithesis of the above mentioned locations, guilds like B*H, CoS, DoK and professional looters like Kenny, which are all just as important to the history of Napa, yet get no credit), and few of us even care now.

Although, I would encourage people to go to the University and read the collection of books. We still have quite the collection.

And as for the progression of events until now, I'm not complaining I have a fully decorated house which has things beyond my wildest dreams back then, and nobody can take any of it from me.

I am sorry for your loss. As a player who doesn't log in as much anymore, but keeps the accounts open because he can't let go of UO was, I understand. Things like this ARE what makes UO special. Sadly it is dying. I would love it if EA spent more time listening to us and less time breaking things. I recently started playing WoW, and am absolutely amazed at how shallow the game is compared to UO. But there are people there. I'm also amazed at how much the control scheme, play style, and everything was copied into UO lately...disappointing that the originator of the genre now feels it necessary to emulate instead of innovate. Maybe that will one day change. Until then, I hope for UO's future. I fully support any idea that preserves OUR history, this is OUR game.
