I need help with the first parts of the ranger quest

I can't find info about where specifically the serpents lair is for the anthills, or the orbs from the wisps in ilsh. I know theres some area with medusa, I think over a bridge, and the snake stuff starts over by a snake like twisty stone passageway to the west of the lair. Um, there are little anthills everywhere, but no big ones like I read about. Can anyone give me good directions or points of reference? Thanks!

The little ant hills are the ones you are looking for. Use a snake charming flute (made by carpenters) to charm a snake to fetch an egg for you, or just stick your hand in it.

As for the dark wisp orb, go to the Wisp dungeon in Ilshenar (West of Honesty moongate). There are Dark Wisp Guardians guarding reddish chests. Kill the guardians and open the chest. The guardians are about as tough as the normal dark wisps.

Hiya Sarsmi! Little extra info for you:
1) The Serpents Lair Area is down by Medusa inside the Abyss. You don't need to have Music/Peace/etc. to utilize the Snake Charming Flutes, although, I think Music helps, it's not a must. I used my thief to hide and stealth around scooping up multiple eggs.
Double click the flute, target any kind of serpent or snake in the area then target the "Ant Hill". The snake will go towards the hole and once within range of it, he will start to "sparkle" which means he is searching the hole. You don't have to do one hole at a time, nor do you only have to send one snake to a hole. I've sent multiple snakes to a single hole or spread multiple snakes out searching multiple holes at the same time. If you multi-task, it will produce quite a few more eggs in a shorter period of time. At times, you must be very quick to snatch up the eggs or someone will be in the area and they will grab the egg.
2) Wisp Dungeon just outside of the Ilsh Honesty Moongate down on the 2nd level is where you want to go to harvest your Dark Wisp Orbs. If you are trying to obtain multiple Orbs with a single character, take a Bag of sending with you. Each time you get an Orb, send it to the bank or you will never see a 2nd Orb pop into your pack. I was down there for over 30minutes before realizing that you can't have an Orb in your pack and receive a 2nd one. I don't know if riding a beetle and stuffing the Orb into the Beetles pack will allow a 2nd Orb to pop into your pack or not.
3) Lantern - either make them or for a whopping 2gp, you can purchase one from the Provisioner at Luna
4) Silver Sapling Seeds - obtained from the Silver Sapling down in the Abyss

At times, you must be very quick to snatch up the eggs or someone will be in the area and they will grab the egg.

Eggs can only be picked up by the person who revealed them for the first 5-10 seconds or so.

The eggs do have timers on them. Pretty long timer. So it's better to have all the other items first, then get the eggs, then turn it all in for Lanterns of Spirituality.
But the quests are chained from Dexter to the next guy, Sir Geoffrey. So you need to run them all through to get the second quest, or the eggs might time out and go poof.
