I need help with roofing.

I've got an 8x11 two story customisable plot.

I've put up walls, floors, doors and a flight of stairs with no problems.

However I cannot seem to build a simple straw roof. Everything I try ends in utter disaster.I looked at the faq and Sarsmi's page but all I need is a simple roof that covers my house.

Is there any straightforward way to make a straightforward roof?

I too am severely challenged on roofs. I mostly forget to leave a one tile space all around the base, without which they don't work.

I hated roofing when it first came out, but I found this Youtube video. Seeing the visual SERIOUSLY helped me a lot and roofing is a piece of cake now.
