I mined in Delucia last night.

It’s where I learned my skill so many years before.

I tried to do it the “old” way- no beetles to help. But I found that running back and forth to the bank broke up the relaxing rhythm I was looking for. So I just piled the ore and took to swinging the pickaxe, relaxing to the sound that my mining buddy and I have shared for over 11 years.

She was 6 weeks old when I started on Siege in Delucia. We spent hours and hours there. She slept beneath my feet as I mined and smithed to gain my skills. She grew up to sound. I realized some years later that whenever I mined, Annie would hear it, and she would come crowd her 75 pounds of American bulldog under my desk and on top of my feet as she snoozed the hours away.

Last night she could not hear it- she has been deaf for a couple of years. But still, she snored in time with the pickaxe, resting peacefully under my feet. I think she knew where she was when she slipped away.

Should you hear a deep peaceful snore coming from the mountain range of Delucia, know that you have found where Annie left her soul.

Thats by far the most soothing thing ive ever heard. My hearts with you. When i had my first baby he used to sleep while i mined around minoc. I wonder if someday he will remember the sounds?

Such a very touching message. I hope sharing it helped you. It is a difficult time for all of us animal lovers. My kitties are more my friends than pets, I am certain you know what I mean.

It is so good to hear the passing was easy and in a calm familiar place. It will cross my mind every time I visit Delucia. *bows*

More than a few people on this shard know how I feel about my kids...all 4 of em. Some have heard them moo'ing and woo'ing in vent, some have met them, some have fed them *wink at Kelmo*

The day any one of the current crop goes, is a day I'll lose a piece of my heart...my condolences to you.

Oh my... You've found my soft spot! :sad3:

After losing my 19 year old friend a few years ago, I can certainly feel your pain, but they do stay with us forever.

I'm sorry for your loss and will keep both you and Annie in my prayers tonight.

For all of us pet lovers, we share your feelings.

Over the years we too have lost many a pet due to old age mostly, we have had cats, dogs, pet doves, etc.

Myself I have only 2 regrets, the one time I was away from home and my Terripoo passed away from old age, no human was home at the time she passed away, she was all alone. I would rather we get to be with them, to show respect and love for them, one last time, before they depart this world.

Still all of our pets lived to be very elderly, save for one. Our eyes still tear up, our hearts shred inside when ever we see a chocolate lab. that survived to BE old, unlike our own foundling choc. lab, that some idiots tossed out like trash cuz they were clueless choc. labs get to be so big, she found US to love her. She was taken from bone cancer at the tender age of 27 mos. a few years back, whom we felt never got the chance 'to live' for long, like all our other pets but we have no regrets, least she found someone to care about her within us, after her prior owners dumped her out like unwanted garbage.

Each and every pet is special to those of us whom care, there are no replacements for any of our beloved friendly pets, whom we loved that pass away.

Yet somewhere out there, if ya heart has the room a newblet is waiting & wanting some love and human kindness, if or when ya feel ye are ready to open ye heart again to another unique to itself, pet. Maybe ye next pet if ya ever get another one, will bark to the sounds...of COR POR.

We our selves swore we would never again get another pet, hurt too much to loose our foundling the choc. lab so young, to bone cancer at so tender an age, when all our other pets got the chances all to live to be elderly. But we are glad we got these two newbies that we have now. We never had dogs of this breed, whom seem to react to uo sheep sounds like our newblets, these dang gum yappin' shelties sheepherding orphans, that we adopted whom we have now.

No other pet replaces the ones we lost, we miss them for ever whom was our friend for yrs. on end. But pet lovers often find, a newbie who finds us, for us to open our hearts to them to love once more yet another peculiar critter or 2 for us, to adopt.

RIP dear Annie, some where in heaven, there has got to be a spot for all God's critters that touched our human hearts, so profoundly.

I'm another advocate of rescue/shelter pets! Obviously, our beloved pets cannot be replaced, but there are so many wonderful dogs and cats out there without a home that would love the opportunity to bring some joy and happiness to a loving family. I was sure after my sweet girl died, that I wouldn't be looking for another for quite a long time, but it wasn't long before this little rascal weaseled his way into our lives!

Punky - He came from the animal shelter and is the most gentle, sweet little cat I have ever met.

Mookie - He just showed up on the ranch one day. Feral as all get out, but we can pet him now and I think he has decided to keep us.

Wow. Nicely said. Thanks.

I lost my dog a few years back when he escaped from the kennel while I was on a business trip and got hit by a truck. I was crushed. Haven't had the heart to get another dog since - wouldn't dare have to have them put up with my travel schedule, but I sure miss him.

You'll have to speak to the youngest kiddo about that, but apparently every cat she has ever had [3 to date] have been named Mookie. lol

Py I know all my little ones (and not so little) who have already crossed the rainbow bridge will give her a warm welcome.

To you I send a big hug and much gladness that the passing seemed to be in a way and place that could bring you both much comfort and peace.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I thought it proper to memorialize Annie here as her life coincided with my time on Siege. She spent a lot of time here with me, but not all of it was so peaceful.

There were dozens of times she caused me to go afk at really bad times. And I quit counting how many times I died because I had to let her out. The most memorable death was when a wisp killed me- I was shocked because I did not hear the wisp before it hit. Took a few minutes to find that my speaker wires were chewed to pieces! Guess who? :)

(I think I was pretty lucky it was just speaker wires! It could have been much worse.)
